At the end of the Edo period, Osaka merchants funded the erection of a signpost at a three-way junction. Now a road toward the station has been built, making it a crossroads. The Board of Education excavated Okamotochō 3-4, but nothing in particular was found, and no remains of a large residence could be confirmed. There was a well here until the Shōwa era.
View on GoogleA crossroads in Hirakata-juku where the Kyō Kaidō and Iwafune Kaidō intersect, with a sense of history. In the Edo period, the oil merchant Sumino Sōza lived around here.
View on GoogleLots of people walking by here too and it was lunchtime, so I probably looked like a suspicious person, but I shot a video Walking the Kyō Kaidō, you get lost here 馬《●▲●》助 Neeeigh♪

View on GoogleKado no Sōza's huge mansion used to be here. Apparently they ran an oil business here in the Edo period. Because there was a lot of foot traffic, a stone marker was made as a signpost.
