This is what ramen is supposed to be about. Cheap, no frills, tasty. This place reminds me of 'The Hungry Bug' from Dorohedoro.

I've been coming here for over 10 years, and back then I used to come 4 times a week. Now I live far away so I can't visit very often, but I always make sure to drop by when I return to my hometown. It is Kuzuha's soul food. Dingy, cheap, and delicious. Ramen used to be 500 yen, and when I was a student it was 380 yen for student-discount ramen. Now the price has gone up to 680 yen. However, in these times of high inflation, open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, this price is the fruit of their hard work. As for the ramen, it's a slightly spicy ramen. However, the flavor changes completely depending on the toppings, and the good point is that you can make it to your own liking. Personally, adding plenty of spiciness, plenty of garlic, and plenty of lemon is addictive and delicious. The tempura bits absorb the soup and use up the soup meant for kaedama (extra noodles), so I don't add them. The taste of the menu varies depending on who makes it, and the one made by the monk-haired guy who is there from around 9 PM to 5 AM is the most delicious. I recommend going at night rather than during the day. Honestly, during the day, I think Miyachanten in Yawata City is better. As for the inside of the restaurant, as everyone says, it's dirty. I recommend checking the cups to make sure they aren't oily before choosing one. If it bothers you, I recommend buying a drink from the vending machine in front of the store before entering. In the past, I've seen cockroaches and mice on the kitchen floor. Recently it might be a little better... 😅 Even so, "Sichuan Ramen" includes all of those quirks. It has a retro Showa-era feel that evokes nostalgia. Although prices have gone up, it is still cheap and delicious. I live in Tokyo now, so I wish they would open a branch in Tokyo too. The staff member is a bit quiet, but personally I don't think he is unfriendly. I kind of feel like the greetings "Irasshaimashee~~" and "Arigatou gozaimuuuusu" are also a specialty of Sichuan Ramen 😂 Every time I visit my hometown, I worry whether they've closed down, so I really hope they continue running the shop.

A place of memories where I used to eat about once a week when I was in middle and high school. I visited when I returned to my hometown after a long time, but my nostalgia goggles must have been tinted way too strongly. Ticket vending machine system and cash only. Cheap.

The fried rice was delicious. The Sichuan ramen lacks umami. The fried chicken is greasy. The fried gyoza I ate after the fried chicken had a taste that made me think, 'Figures.' To give a harsh opinion, just buying a ticket for a large-size fried rice and eating it is enough to satisfy me. I guess I don't need the others...

I visited "Sichuan Ramen Kuzuha Branch" in Kuzuha for the first time in a while. I ordered the Sichuan Ramen & Fried Rice set for 900 yen. It uses a ticket vending machine system, so the price was set including consumption tax, making the total 900 yen. I must have eaten this ramen when I was a little kid. I suppose my relatives living in Kuzuha brought me here. When I became a working adult and started living alone in neighboring Yawata City, Kyoto Prefecture, I used to hang out at the Tsutaya in Kuzuha. I even remember signing my mobile phone contract at the Docomo store there. When I was eating ramen at another shop in Kuzuha back then, for some reason every seat had tempura bits, and I wondered, 'Even though it's not udon, why put tempura bits as a topping on ramen?' But I had a memory of knowing this. There's no doubt I ate Sichuan ramen at this shop when I was a little kid. Who knows though, lol. Anyway, Sichuan ramen shops are commonly found around the Kuzuha, Hirakata City and Otokoyama, Yawata City areas on the border of Osaka and Kyoto prefectures. Maybe it's the soul food of this local region? Since this shop is open 24 hours, I used it for breakfast ramen this time. Sichuan ramen features a soup that isn't too spicy, where you top it with tempura bits and eat them after letting them soak in the soup. It's super tasty. The fried rice isn't all that special, but the Sichuan Ramen & Fried Rice set for 900 yen has great cost performance. Each seat is fully equipped with red miso chili paste, and there were hangers on the wall behind the counter seats. Water is self-service using a water dispenser. The only downside is that there is no parking lot, though there are coin-operated parking lots a distance away. Regular customers were parking illegally in front of the store, but since there is heavy traffic here, I wouldn't recommend it. Parking a motorcycle in front of the store seems fine, though. The staff was a solo middle-aged guy operating it. The restaurant is old so the hygiene and such are questionable, but I want you to try the local favorite Sichuan ramen and use it as a topic of conversation.
