Hirakata City, Osaka Prefecture. Opened in 2012. A town diner whose concept is supporting local production for local consumption. Inexpensive and voluminous set meals are popular among students, office workers, etc. Station-close location. You can choose the amount of rice. Visited around 11:10 AM on a weekday in May 2026. Arrived 20 minutes before opening as the first in line. Lines gradually formed, and entered around 5 minutes before opening time. Stopped when about 10 people entered. Not full seating or shared tables, roomy. Guided to place luggage on available chairs. Customer demographic is 20s-60s with over 80% men. Shop BGM is upbeat piano at medium volume. 3-staff member system. Rice can be chosen from white rice and brown rice. Sizes are small, regular, large. Extra-large is +100 yen. Menu includes fried chicken, fried horse mackerel, pork ginger stir-fry, tonkatsu, as well as Morimori Set (combination of 3 pieces of fried chicken + ginger stir-fry, etc.) ■ Order ■ *Tax included ◇ Morimori Set (1,000 yen) Served in a few minutes. Comes with 3 pieces of fried chicken, pork ginger stir-fry, rice, miso soup, hijiki seaweed, pickles. Chose brown rice for the rice. Fried chicken and pork ginger stir-fry on top of a mountain of shredded cabbage. Fried chicken consists of 3 large-sized pieces. Crispy outside, juicy inside thigh meat. Garlic-soy sauce based batter, seasoning that makes the rice go down. Relatively light garlic, so it's just right for lunch. Pork ginger stir-fry is sweet-leaning, goes well with rice. Lightly seasoned compared to how it looks. Felt like I wouldn't get tired of eating it every day. Hijiki seaweed is mildly seasoned. Miso soup is sweet white miso. Gladly packed with carrots and onions. Rice was regular portion, but felt like about 1 go (approx. 330g cooked) of satisfaction. Rice is sweet and delicious. Since I chose brown rice this time, I was fuller than usual. By the time I finished eating, the fullness level was over 120%. Exited around 11:45 AM. Over 10 people in line outside. ■ Summary ■ ・Near-station location, weekdays lunch only. ・A town diner loved by the community. ・Full with regular portion. ・Happy for heavy eaters and growing appetites. ・Queuing a must. ・Will come again. ・Vegetables were also sold during early hours. Thank you for the meal (*^^*)
View on GoogleFirst visit before 1:00 PM on a Wednesday. Inside the shop has about 12 seats. Chose the Karaage Set Meal (3 pieces of karaage 800 yen tax included, rice is regular). Even the 'regular' rice is a mountain of rice, and large size is the same price (extra-large is +100 yen). Since each piece of karaage is quite large, my small portion seemed to have 4 pieces. 5 pieces of karaage is 900 yen. The soy sauce-soaked thigh meat with wheat flour batter was crispy and extremely delicious. The morimori set meal is probably the most popular, but the ginger pork stir-fry seems to sell out quickly so going by around 12:30 is best. Business hours are short from 11:30 AM to 2:00 PM, but customers came one after another. Since no one lingers, if you wait a little bit you should be able to get in. There were also many takeout customers. About a 5-minute walk from Hirakata-shi Station and easy to understand. Cost performance is top-notch, so anyone who wants to eat until they're full should definitely visit. [Revisited Tuesday, April 28, 2026] Opening is at 11:30, but already 5 people waiting before opening. I ordered the 'Morimori Set' karaage and pork ginger stir-fry set with large brown rice for 1000 yen (can choose karaage or fried horse mackerel. Can also choose white rice. Brown rice tends to run out, but it seems many people choose white rice. Only extra-large is +100 yen. Up to large is no extra charge). Freshly fried voluminous fried food and rice, stewed hijiki, two slices of takuan, and miso soup arrived. Thigh meat karaage is crispy and incredibly delicious. Cost performance is always top-notch! Note that business hours are short from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM. You can also take it out as a bento. Be prepared to wait about 15 minutes for a seat to open up once filled. Definitely worth the wait.
View on GoogleAbout a 10-minute walk from Hirakata-shi Station. The shop is located about a 3-minute walk from Hirakata City Hall (new building side). Open on weekdays only. Opening time is 11:30 AM, but people are already lining up. I was lucky enough to enter the shop without lining up, but it was shared seating. The recommendation is for 2 people to come and line up a little before opening time. This time I ordered the 'Morimori Set Karaage 3 pieces, Rice (Large)', and I am stuffed. The menu is only the menu sheet. There is no drink menu sheet. There are no single dishes either. When paying, I asked the staff if I could enter without waiting if I came before closing time, and apparently around that time they run out of rice and close early. The morimori set meal is pork ginger stir-fry + 3 pieces of karaage + small side dish + miso soup. You can choose either white rice or brown rice. The karaage has crispy skin and tender meat, which is to my liking. Next time I'll try the karaage set meal with 5 pieces of karaage + brown rice (extra-large) ♪ The rice is also glossy and delicious.
View on GoogleIt's a small shop so not many people can fit. About 15 people? Some people line up before opening, and when I went about 3 minutes after opening I waited outside for about 25 minutes. The shop basically often involves shared seating, and the tables are small so it makes you a bit nervous. The shop staff have a nice vibe, so even being made to wait somehow feels forgivable. We went as a pair this time and ordered respectively: Morimori Set (karaage and pork ginger stir-fry) Morimori Set (fried horse mackerel and pork ginger stir-fry) with large rice (brown rice), it was quite voluminous and filled our stomachs to the brim, it's not painful since it's delicious but it's heavy. Brown rice seems popular and ran out relatively quickly after opening. White rice also closes the shop before business hours if it runs out. Since it's right from Hirakata City Hall, city hall employees line up. I feel like waiting to enter past noon is going to be quite a wait... Payment method is cash only, so be careful if you're used to cashless!
View on GoogleBeing in a 'feeling like eating heartily' mood on this day, I charged into Hirakata Morimori-tei which I've been curious about for a while. Lucky timing with only 1 group in line. I'd tried several times before, but either it was temporarily closed or I went too late and white rice was depleted, so it seemed like I had no connection to Morimori-tei, but I finally reached this sanctuary around Hirakata-shi Station. 【Location】 About 5 minutes through the shopping street from Hirakata-shi Station. Looking at the distance from the station and the queue, expectations are already high. Since the city hall is nearby, employees might be using it. 【Shop】 Inside the shop drifts a retro diner feel. Crowded at lunchtime with office workers and heavy-eaters. Counter + few tables with fast turnover. 【Impressions】 What I ordered this time was the 'Morimori Set (Ginger stir-fry + 3 pieces of karaage)', and for the rice, without hesitation, large size. By the way there's an even higher extra-large and it comes with a separate charge. The ginger stir-fry had sauce thoroughly clinging to it, instantly establishing a marriage with the rice. The 3 pieces of karaage were fist-sized with outstanding presence, juicy, and light on the batter. The 250g of rice lived up to the name 'large', finishing it down to the last grain without getting tired of it. I liked how mayonnaise was quietly provided beside the salad without being asked. I love it. I feel something akin to 'the left hand is just for support'. I almost asked for 'another bowl of rice' halfway through, but large was the correct choice. Extra-large challenge is something to look forward to next time. By the way, it feels like local ingredients of Hirakata are used in a local production for local consumption kind of way, and the miso soup had plenty of eggplants and potatoes, giving a sweet feeling filled with the sentiment of supporting the local area, which warmed both heart and body. By the way, the hijiki was also a large portion. The royal road of 'set meal culture', casually and exhilaratingly. Truly the quintessential shop for 'when you want to eat heartily' in Hirakata. I thought I want to go again.
