Our proud signature dish, “Jukusei Shoyu Ramen Niku Soba.” Tender pork, of which only a few Kg can be obtained from each animal, is briefly simmered in our proprietary broth to create an exceptional soy sauce ramen concentrated with pork flavor. Many customers praise it as an irresistible dish for ramen lovers. A gentle sweetness spreads in your mouth, followed by a rich yet clean flavor. Please taste the dedication Marugen puts into it. Another welcome feature is the wide range of body-friendly options, including noodles with 50% fewer carbohydrates and dishes packed with vegetables. Side dishes worthy of being the main event include “Marugen Gyoza,” “Teppan Tamago Chahan,” and “Oishii Karaage,” while “Soft Cream” is also popular after a meal.

Great ramen! Price was a little expensive? Basic lunch was about ¥900 and included ramen plus either Kaarage or gyoza and rice. But it was too oily for me. They have flavors of broth you can upgrade to, and you can also upgrade to “less sugar” noodles ( which was half price during lunch when I went) Standard shoyu ramen came with half a soft boiled egg, chashu meat, bamboo shoots, green onion and a sheet of Nori. Which I thought was good. Extra noodles were ¥100 per bowl. The toppings at the table weren’t special, dry fried garlic, some spicy sauce, maybe kimchi? (It didn’t look good, so I didn’t try) But the best part was the VERY REFRESHING pitcher of green tea. You could also get a soft ice cream for ¥100 with lunch. Nice parking, clean and separated booths and fast. I enjoyed the meal, but the oil made me a little sick.

I went to eat gyoza and piping hot iron-plate egg fried rice, but since I love spicy things, I additionally ordered the limited-time mapo ramen (malatang men) and the soy sauce tonkotsu red out of impulse. As shown in the promotional POP, there were many colorfully appealing ingredients, it wasn't too spicy, and the broth had no weird aftertaste, making it very easy to eat. Compared to that, the soy sauce tonkotsu red was bright red, so much so that you could imagine the spiciness just from the look of the broth, and as soon as I sipped the broth, sweat started pouring from my face. The noodles clung firmly to the broth, and every bite made my mouth piping hot. It was a satisfying bowl with a reasonably large chashu slice, green onions, and egg.

My first time at Marugen. I ordered the aged soy sauce ramen with the karaage and rice set. I was so disappointed by how the karaage was practically all skin, making me wonder, "Did I order chicken skin?" Also, the busy-bee attitude of the staff bothered me. They basically spoke very fast, and when paying, the moment the receipt was put into the receipt holder, it was snatched away and discarded, which felt kind of scary. Rather than efficient, it felt frantic. The ramen was delicious, so it feels like a waste with various things. I rarely come to Hirakata, but there are lots of eateries I want to try, and since I spent one of those precious meals at Marugen Ramen, it was unfortunate.
