2026.2 【Non-smoking】〇 【Willingness to revisit】〇 【Speed】〇 【Payment method】Cash A popular diner on Route 1. It's a hidden famous shop that has even been on TV. It is run by an elderly couple. Many menu items were sold out, so I had the aradaki (simmered fish scraps/cuts). Sweet-simmered sea bream. Maybe because many things were sold out, they kindly gave me vegetables as a free extra. Perhaps because you can get energy from the cheerful proprietress, it seems there are many regulars. Satuties sometimes have lines starting from the morning, they say. It was an affordable shop at 720 yen, including rice and miso soup.

Because it's such a small shop that you wouldn't even notice it driving along Route 1, I had never been here before. The entrance door is hard to open, so I thought there might be a separate entrance, but it opens if you push it with a good amount of strength. The sashimi seemed good according to the reviews, but I passed on it this time and got the fried chicken set. It's 750 yen. Both the rice and miso soup are delicious. The karaage was well-seasoned and tasty. Next time I'll try the rolled omelet or oden.

Anyway, the rice is delicious. It's cooked soft, which I really like. Fish is apparently their strong point. The miso soup is also slightly sweet and I like it. Be careful as parking is only for about 2 cars somehow.

A long-established restaurant that has been here since I was an elementary school student. A food place that has been around for more than 40 years, less than 50. I've known about it forever, but never really had the opportunity to use it, and this is my very first time. Entered around 11 AM. The mother was alone and the father was out buying supplies. Since it was between breakfast and lunch hours, sashimi and some fried items were sold out, but once the father returned from shopping, the sold-out items were replenished. There are no particularly complicated rules, so you can just ask anything you don't understand and order whatever food you like. Set meals, noodle dishes, and rice bowls are written on the menu. Everything is inexpensive. Ordered karaage set, hamburg steak set, rolled omelet, simmered sea bream aradaki, yellowtail sashimi, toro sashimi, etc. All I can say is everything is delicious. Set meals taste like nostalgic mom's cooking. Simmered sea bream aradaki tasted like professional high-end restaurant food. Both the father and mother are very friendly and kind people. It's a shop with a very nice atmosphere and I'd like to use it again. I feel like I've been losing out by not using it until now.

In my neighborhood, there is an old-fashioned diner run by an elderly couple. It seems to have been in business for decades, and the exterior has a somewhat nostalgic feel to it. I've known it was there all along, but I never really had the chance to visit, and I had never stepped foot inside until now. Even though I was curious, it was always just a shop I walked past. Meanwhile, I recently saw the place featured on social media like YouTube, and thought, "Ah, I am curious after all." When I happened to have some free time on a weekday, I finally decided to pay a visit. Inside is a small space strongly retaining a Showa-era atmosphere. There is a counter and a few table seats, with weathered furnishings and posters decorating the walls, making it feel like you stepped back in time. I really like this kind of atmosphere. As for the food, it's solidly homemade and the taste is faultless. It's a carefully crafted old-school flavor, and it had a somewhat comforting deliciousness. However, personally, I felt that a slightly larger portion would be nice. Given my usual meal size, it felt a bit lacking, but the satisfaction level of the taste was still high. Also, deep inside the kitchen, there was a moment where the couple had a minor tiff, which in itself felt somehow endearing, exuding a homely atmosphere and warming my heart. It made me deeply feel how they've kept it going together for many years. It's the kind of shop where I'd like to casually drop by again.
