This is a former inn at Hirakata-juku on the Kyo Kaido that thrived in the Edo period as an inn for people waiting for the Sanjukkoku-bune boats, then operated as a ryotei restaurant until 1997; it was dismantled, repaired, and turned into a museum. It's about a 10-minute walk from the north exit of Hirakata-koen Station on the Keihan Oto Line. There's a parking lot in front of the museum, but it has few spaces, and the road in front is narrow with a fair amount of pedestrian and bicycle traffic, so I don't recommend coming by car. On top of that, on the second Sunday of every month there's an event called Goroku-ichi, which brings crowds and traffic restrictions on the Kyo Kaido, so I really don't recommend coming by car. Admission is ¥200. How interested you'll be depends on the person, so I can't say for sure, but I think an hour is plenty for a visit. After visiting here, you can stroll the riverside park, have fun at Hirapa, which has been gaining fame lately, or head to Hirakata-shi Station and wander around the shopping mall — you can put together a decent full-day plan.

I'd like to visit again They sell goods, food, and historical materials, but "Learning Hirakata's History the Fun Way" was out of stock, so we'll have to look forward to the new edition coming out in spring. Can't wait
