Until last year, Hirakata had Uokiyo, a long-established eel specialty restaurant, but unfortunately it closed down. However, not knowing there was an eel specialty restaurant in the Makino residential area, I looked it up online and went. The kabayaki is Osaka-style with thick meat that is very satisfying to eat. The menu is extensive and above all, it's cheap! If the sauce had soaked in just a little bit more, it would have been 5 stars, but it was an elegant eel dish that you can fully enjoy.
View on GoogleI had the Hitsumabushi. The eel was grilled to a crisp on the outside and fluffy on the inside, and it was very delicious. The interior is clean and the proprietress's customer service is polite. I didn't know there was such a nice shop in Makino. I'd like to try the Una-don next time.
View on GoogleAn eel shop right in the middle of a residential area with a parking lot next to the shop. I had the Una-don, and it comes with kimosui (eel liver soup) and is delicious. I imagine many people are repeat customers, which is why an eel shop in a residential area can stay in business. It's a shop I'd think about going back to eat at again.
View on GoogleWanting to eat eel for the first time in a while, I searched for eel shops around the local Keihan railway line near Hirakata City and found two. Among them, this was my first visit to Fukuya. It was located among private houses a bit away from Makino Station. The interior was overflowing with a sense of cleanliness. The main event, the eel: crispy on the surface, fluffy on the inside, looking almost like shirayaki (unseasoned grilled eel). Anyway, it was extremely delicious. I was moved, thinking, "This is what truly delicious kabayaki is." It was worth making the special trip. I'll come again.
View on GoogleI am someone who gets an irresistible craving for eel once every six months. So, I searched for an eel shop! Visiting alone for the first time (;◔ิд◔ิ) Nervous... I was able to enter easily even by myself. It's a counter facing the wall. The seat is cozy w Worrying whether to get hitsumabushi, I ended up having the unaju. Just as the reviews said, it was grilled to a crisp! Yet fluffy! Actually, I also wanted to eat umaki (omelet-wrapped eel), but I didn't know the portion size of the unaju, so I thought I'd eat that first and then order if I still had room in my stomach... I got full w Next time I'll come with two people. The owner seems kind and friendly. Thank you for the delicious eel (ฅ'ω'ฅ)♪ Next time I'd like to have the hitsumabushi. After that! I had the first hitsumabushi and umaki... The umaki was not piping hot and freshly made; it was pre-made and taken out of the fridge, so it's cold. Is that how an eel shop is supposed to serve it? Personally, I didn't like the chazuke style of hitsumabushi. It ruins the wonderful crispiness, making it soggy, and the flavor becomes diluted, which I don't like. My companion said pouring the leftover soup made it a bit better... Huh, what a disappointment. From next time onwards, unaju is my only choice.
