It's a great place on a budget. The food is good, and the staff is friendly. They will ask you which spicy level you want (1-4) I get 2 or less, not because it's spicy. It's because the spice changes the flavor of the dish. Try not to go there between 12:15 and 1:15 since that's Kinda University's lunch time, but go if you don't mind a possible line. It can get busy there.
View on GoogleA tantanmen shop on Kindai-dori. Mild spiciness even at level 4. Reasonable prices, and student discounts make it even better. Infection control measures are strictly implemented. One-person operation and semi-self-service. The clerk is friendly.
View on GoogleWhat I ordered this time: Soup-less Tantanmen Fried Rice Set This place uses a meal ticket system, buying the ticket and taking it to the counter, and you write down your numbness level where you buy the ticket ❗ Since it was my first visit this time, I ordered at level 2 🏱 First of all, although it's written as soup-less tantanmen, there was soup🤣🤣 lol Personally, numbness level 2 was more than enough, and adding some shichimi pepper to that was the best 👍 Fried rice was a bit bland, so adding the ramen sauce meant for pouring over the leftover rice to the fried rice made it richer and delicious 🎵 I'll go again when I want some excitement ~ 🥰
View on Google[Tantanmen near Kindai University.] I went to Kinki University the other day, famous for Kindai tuna. On the way back, I saw a noren curtain reading "Soup-less Tantanmen" near the nearest station and went in. The time inside was just before 3 PM, but there were a few energetic, athletic-looking students. Choosng the fried rice set, I waited about 5 minutes. The students left one after another, calling out, "Thanks for the hard work ~!" At the same time, the set in the photo arrived ~. Just as I was about to eat!, the master said a word: "Here's an apron so your dress shirt doesn't get dirty." How kind, master. Thanks to that, I was able to prevent my white shirt from becoming covered in tantanmen. Now, before eating, I saw it written to "mix well"—though I forgot if it was 10 seconds or 10 times, so I suppressed my surging appetite and mixed it. Then, tasting the soup, the rich depth of the minced meat spreads out. The noodles are slightly firm, but coat well with the soup. The refreshing flavor of Sichuan pepper lingers in the aftertaste, which is delicious. (You can choose the amount of Sichuan pepper in advance. I chose level 2 spiciness.) As for the fried rice, the seasoning is delicious. However, I feel the oil content is a bit high, so it's probably for young people. It felt a bit heavy for an old guy like me. Regardless, I enjoyed the meal. At 750 yen, I suppose the cost performance is good.
View on GoogleI went to eat there for the first time in a while, and the shop's setup had changed. Previously, food was served by staff, but now it has changed to a system where you hand your meal ticket at the counter and carry the finished food yourself to eat. There are an extremely large number of warning notices posted inside the store, which is a bit tedious. There must have been many Kindai students who didn't understand manners and common sense. Regarding the food, as you can see from the photos, it has changed from soup-less tantanmen to tantanmen with soup. There wasn't a major change in taste, but since it was swimming in soup, I felt a bit puzzled. ---------------------------------------------------- There is no doubt it's delicious, but I just wish they could spare me the massive amount of dust and lint sticking to cups, chopsticks, soup spoons, etc., after they've been washed and wiped with a dishcloth. And it's every single time.
