Lookout point & picnic spot with views over Osaka, reached by an uphill hike & popular at nightfall.

It's a 90-minute walk via the Kamitsudake hiking trail from the Rakuraku Tozando parking lot (free, available 24 hours), or a 15-minute walk from the Narukawa parking lot on the Shigi-Ikoma Skyline (toll road). For night-view hikes, please scout the route in daytime and take thorough precautions. For night views, the Miharashi Observation Deck, a 35-minute walk along the Rakuraku Tozando, has almost the same view, and the scenery along the way is also recommended. National Route 308 is difficult to pass except for people in small 4WD vehicles who are used to driving on forest roads, and long closures due to nighttime accidents happen especially often. It's a road residents use in daily life, so please refrain from using it. Parking is not allowed around the pass, and police are enforcing this.

The view is nice and the air is cool, but the hike is pretty long. It took almost 2 hours to walk there.

If you go throw the forest, the most interesting paths are not displayed on Google Map. But with the compas it is easy to see where we go and also, you can follow where most people go. It is easily 3 hours of climbing . Don't believe Google which tells you 1h! The view is amazing and it is worth it. The paths are very steep. Think about water.

Nice place to hike to. About 1.5 hours on foot from Hiraoka station. The hiking trail is in good shape, even with toilets, benches, etc. at multiple points. The trail is kind of steep at some of the early parts, but not exhausting after all.

The view from here is completely worth the climb. I took the Kamitsudake (神津嶽) hiking course up. Starting at Hiraoka Jinja, it took about 3 hours to get to the top and I was able to catch the sunset. Besides the beautiful landscape, there are pink Azalea flower bushes leading up to the peak. The space is really open and gives you a whole view of Osaka, especially on non-foggy days. I went near the end of May/ start of June. NOTE: Since the descent is quite long, a good headlamp or phone flashlight would be useful for when it gets dark, phone service / data in case of emergencies, and bug spray or long clothing recommended.

This is a popular spot for city views and a great place for a weekend hike. I love the path and the lone tree that eventually leads to a stunning view!
