~Katsu Curry~ The restaurant's atmosphere has a nostalgic Showa-retro vibe! Ordered the Katsu Curry for ¥1100- 😊 Finished it all while reminiscing about how the cutlet has been firm since the old days when I used to visit in my youth! The portion was quite large and I got full! It was delicious 😊 Thank you for the meal 🙇‍♀️

Student cafeteria at noon. I often pass by nearby so I was curious and visited. I went in a little before noon so it was empty, but past noon, nearby university students came trickling in. I ordered the specialty Katsuragi Lunch, but if I had been a little later my order would have been delayed too, so I'm glad I went in early. The students who came in immediately started lighting up cigarettes everywhere. Shortly after, the food arrived. Two large fried shrimp, one small hamburger steak, a mountain of cabbage, potato salad under the ham, miso soup, and pickles—it was a very hearty volume, but..... The seasoning of everything was too salty. The dressing-like thing that came separately was also salty, the fried shrimp were salty, the miso soup was the same, everything... Is this seasoning tailored for students? With that kind of food and cigarette smoke atmosphere, there will be no second visit.

🏫 Located right in front of the main gate of Osaka University of Commerce, the long-established public diner "Katsuragi" Visited around 11:30 on a weekday, no other customers yet An exterior with an atmosphere that exudes retro vibes from its appearance, but stepping inside reveals a cozy space that captures your heart more than you'd expect Menus stuck on the walls and showcases containing side dishes I forgot to take a picture, but tea served in a small golden kettle Excited even before eating 💓 My excitement went through the roof 😆⤴️✨ 🔴 Katsuragi Lunch 850 🔴 Omelet Set Meal 900 🔴 Stew 250 Tried ordering these 🤤 🦐 Fried shrimp, hamburger steak, roast ham, salad 🥗 A delightful lineup like an adult's children's lunch The "Katsuragi Lunch" features two whole fried shrimp, and the crunchy-textured potato salad hidden under the roast ham is super delicious The fluffy yet surprisingly meaty hamburger steak smothered in plenty of demi-glace sauce was also a delight 😄 The dressing looked totally different from what I expected, tasting like soy sauce mayonnaise, though this might divide opinions 😅 The omelet set meal, which I guessed might be a Nikujaga omelet, turned out to be a voluminous omelet packed full of hashed beef The stew chosen from the showcase was warmed up for us, and the carrots and potatoes were warmly sweet and super delicious 😋 The landlady was very friendly and talked to us, which felt nice This is a wonderful shop that I'd definitely want to repeat, so I highly recommend it ❣️ Kosaka gourmet, Showa retro, public diner, traditional set meal restaurant, Osaka University of Commerce, Oshodai, retro diner, Higashiosaka lunch
