A soupless noodle shop run and cooked by university students on the Kindai University campus. At the lunchtime peak, it took about 15 minutes from ordering to eating. There are things you could nitpick, like the onions being chopped as roughly as you'd do at home or the tray being covered in water, but the taste isn't bad, and the Kindai Mazesoba with a large serving of noodles is a bargain at 700 yen.
View on Google【Notes】 ① Located inside Kindai University's Higashi-Osaka Campus, a ramen shop run by students. ② Operations by the 4th generation are scheduled to start on April 2. ③ Over an operating period of about 200 days, they aim for 40,000 customers. ④ Hours are 11:00~15:00 on weekdays; closed on weekends, public holidays, and during long breaks. ⑤ Not just students, the general public can come too! 【What I ate】 Kindai Miso Mazesoba 600 yen (created by 4th-generation owner 岡田帝乙-san) ⇒ A mazesoba coated in a rich miso sauce, characterized by its deep, full-bodied flavor. Kindai Aburasoba 600 yen (created by Maeda-san of the 3rd generation) ⇒ A dish where the robust soy sauce tare and the noodles pair perfectly. Other menu items Kindai Mazesoba 500 yen (created by the 1st generation) Kindai Gyokai Shio Mazesoba 500 yen (created by the 2nd generation) ➡ With the 4th generation's miso mazesoba and the 3rd generation's aburasoba added, there are 4 menu items in total! ------ This time, I attended a reception for the launch of the new team's operations! Even though they're students, the 4th generation seems to approach management with a carefully thought-out plan, and I got the impression they're really solid and dependable. The shop staff also gave off a "friendly and fun" vibe, and within that, they still worked together with a real sense of responsibility, cooking and running the shop. It had been a while since I was at Kindai University, so it felt nostalgic, and I was reminded once again, "This really is an amazing university!"✨ Thanks for the meal!
View on GoogleWe had this at the Open Campus. Both the hot one and the cold one. Mazesoba?? Some people have written harsh reviews, but for us (parent and child) it tasted really good. The quality was hard to believe for five hundred yen. It was several times tastier than we expected. The noodles were on the thick side too, with a hearty flavor. The smoked eggplant? was super delicious. I'd love to eat it again. By the way, I looked at what the people giving low ratings wrote about other restaurants, and it seems they complain no matter where they eat. Apparently when your mental state is down, your sense of taste changes and you can no longer feel that delicious food is delicious (judging from their posts, some of them seem to be seeing a psychosomatic/psychiatric clinic). In a sense, I sympathize. I hope they work hard at their studies, settle their mental state, and then properly enjoy some good food.
View on GoogleThe taste wasn't worth the price; it was meh. Disappointing.
View on GoogleVisited about 4~5 times. Since it's a rich seafood-based soup, I'm a little bothered by how it clings to the noodles, but considering the noodles themselves are thick (the kind you see in champon or something?), I don't think it's that bad. In the first place, I don't see why you'd need to treat a regular ramen shop out in town the same as this student-run place. The gachi-mori has not just a lot of noodles but also a lot of veggies, which actually helped me a lot since I don't eat enough vegetables. The one thing that bothered me was that with the gachi-mori, the soup had spilled onto the tray, and even the ticket stub was all sticky.
