The Higashiosaka City Art Center opened in November of Heisei 9 on the south side of Kintetsu Hanazono Rugby Stadium (now Higashiosaka City Hanazono Rugby Stadium), in a section of Hanazono Central Park. In addition to exhibitions by various groups such as painting and calligraphy, the Art Center holds special exhibitions focused on introducing outstanding works of art, as well as courses that offer inspiration for creating art. We hope you'll come visit with friends and family. Since October 2020, the Higashiosaka City Art Center has been managed by the Higashiosaka Hanazono Activation Management Consortium (HOS Co., Ltd., F.C. Osaka Co., Ltd., Tensho Co., Ltd.) as the designated manager.

I went for a photo exhibition by photographer Michio Hoshino. It's a cozy little museum, a tile-roofed, white-walled building next to Hanazono Rugby Stadium. The exhibition itself was of course wonderful, but the Japanese-style atmosphere of the museum's exterior is really nice too. It's said to be a 10-minute walk from the nearest station, Higashi-Hanazono, and since it was a scorching day I hesitated a bit, but it felt like less than 10 minutes. I'm glad I went.

2026.2.19 A 10-minute walk from Higashi-Hanazono Station, I went to the exhibition of Japanese-style painter Seicho Hasegawa (until 2/23). By the way, admission was free. Inside, photos were allowed for only 3 works; the rest were prohibited. Eventually you enter the zone of bunraku and joruri paintings. Photos weren't allowed here either—I figured it's the same at any museum—and as I left the exhibition hall: "This is the second exhibition of Mr. Hasegawa's works, following the one in Heisei 11, and to commemorate it we're handing out a booklet that includes works from the previous exhibition. It may add to your luggage, but if you'd like…" Wow, I was moved by the staff member's polite manner and what was truly a splendid booklet (photo book)✌️

First visit after seeing on social media that a Michio Hoshino photo exhibition was being held. Next up is a Kiyoshi Yamashita exhibition—they pick quite interesting themes, so including upcoming info, I've got one more place to look forward to😊

I went to see The World of Yusuke Shimomura's Paper Cutting. A cozy little art museum It was a weekday with few visitors, so I could take my time. Photos weren't allowed, but the framed paper cuttings were incredibly delicate and beautiful.
