The tiny building filled with amazing selection of artifacts unearthed from the area, all from 4-6th C, the Kofun period. Everything here are real things, not replicas, displayed so close to you so that you can observe in details. Open only during weekdays, but they might accommodate classes or big groups on Saturday. Inquire with the room of World Heritage & culture properties @city of Habikino. Such a gem 🤩 Highly recommend for all level of Kofunist!

Everything displayed here is genuine and well worth studying. Usually no one is in the exhibition room; the phone at the entrance lets you reach staff, who will open the door so visitors can look around.

A small prefab hut displaying haniwa excavated from the Furuichi Kofun Group. It's usually locked, and when I called the phone next to the entrance, a staff member came over from another building and opened it for me. It's cramped inside, but excavated items are packed in everywhere, and you can get a good understanding of the history of this area. Since it's a World Heritage Site, I think it could have a somewhat grander exhibition hall, but as it is, I could take my time looking around on my own, and it was a blissful time. Next to the building is also a large kofun and its satellite tomb.

Wonderful. Who'd have thought, in a place like this, passing right by the kofun. Thank you very much.

Right in front of your eyes, things made by people in the 5th century! Since they're displayed uncovered, you leave your backpack outside the prefab before going in.
