The Ōguro Residence was the residence of Hatakeyama Kurōdo of the Masanaga faction, who was the bungun shugo (sub-provincial military governor) of the two districts of Ito in Kishū and Uchi in Washū, and is thought to have been built at the same time as the middle-period Takaya Castle as its eastern defense. The "Hatakeyama Kafu" records that in February of Tenbun 1 (1532), Hatakeyama Kurōdo held a tea gathering at the Ōguro Residence. The Ōguro Residence is thought to have been centered around Daizenji Temple in Ōguro, Habikino City, and sub-district (koaza) names such as Horinouchi, Horinomae, Kakiuchi, and Kakisoto remain in the area. Excavations by the Habikino City Board of Education unearthed moat remains, roof tiles identical to those of Takaya Castle, tenmoku tea bowls (tea utensils), and more.
