A soba shop nestled in the mountains. I had the vegetable tempura soba, and my wife Catherine had the vegetable tempura zaru soba. The soba soup was quite mild, but the dashi came through solidly and it was delicious. The zaru soba dashi was faultlessly delicious. There were 7 parking spaces. Since it was a slightly cold day when we visited, for COVID-19 prevention, the shop had good ventilation, making the inside extremely cold. Open only on weekends and holidays.

Had the vegetable tempura zaru soba (soba noodles) for 1320 yen tax included + soba-miso onigiri 🍙 220 yen + spicy daikon radish. The Hitachi-grown ni-hachi soba has sweetness, goes down the throat smoothly, and is delicious ♪ The service from the local aunties is kind and heartwarming 😌 Today is the last day of business for the year, and we will reopen from February 5th next year. Free parking available. It's always crowded, so after 2 PM is recommended.

Visited on my way back from a road bike ride to Mt. Kongo. Had the warm vegetable tempura soba. As other reviewers have written, the tempura was crispy and the soba was also extremely delicious. The shop's atmosphere is good, and I'd like to visit again.

Visited on August 11, 2018. Around 11:45, lunchtime, and it was already almost full. Reservations are not accepted. I had the soba I'd been wanting to try ever since seeing it on a certain broadcasting station's "Ee Toko!" about a year and a half ago. Eating it plain with just a tiny bit of freshly grated raw wasabi, I could feel the faint sweetness inherent to the soba itself. The tea served at the beginning was Tartary buckwheat tea, which smelled great. The freshly fried seasonal vegetable tempura and soba were delicious. Pouring the hot soba water into the dipping sauce and drinking it—the bonito flavor really came through and it was delicious. I'd like to revisit during the new soba season and have the warm herring soba. The mountain visible from the parking lot holds the ruins of Chihaya Castle.

Basically a delicious Hitachi soba shop closed on weekdays and open on weekends and holidays. Business days are posted in front of the shop. Personally, I felt the soba was delicious with a smooth throat-feel similar to Sarashina soba. The vegetable tempura is also carefully fried ingredient by ingredient, so the outside is crispy while each ingredient inside is fried to perfection. All of it had a delicious texture. Since it's a popular shop, if it's full, you tell them your name and wait outside, store your shoes in the lockers next to the front, and then enter. You should probably budget some extra time for dining. Water is self-service. Full of cute wooden accessories, with fish rubbings made from quilt fabric, it was a heartwarming interior. I'd like to make an opportunity to come back again.
