Amazing museum! We visited on a Sunday afternoon and had an incredible time. The staff member working on the day was so kind to us. He explained all of the exhibitions and showed us around very patiently. We could not have had a better experience! Thank you for the kind hospitality. The museum building has been relocated from the original spot, making it very interesting to see. There's a Stephenson train outside the museum which is great, with two traditional passenger and luggage carriages behind that you can look inside. A great way to preserve and support Japanese railway history! The museum is free, but they have small items for sale which were all well designed and very reasonably priced. Hoping to return with family in the future! Thanks again
View on GoogleSmall train museum in an old station building with an original steam locomotive in the garden. It's small, but free, so definitely worth a visit. There is a huge parking lot in front of the museum too.
View on GoogleI happened to see it on Google Maps and stopped by. The retro-looking building and train caught my eye. When I actually looked inside, it was full of historical materials and equipment, and another 1 train was displayed in addition to the one visible from the front. You can even climb aboard the train inside and enter the passenger carriages and other cars attached to the train outside. What a service. ※Please ask the museum director to explain which areas you may and may not enter. Despite all that, admission was free, which surprised me. Railway enthusiasts may already know this place, but it was well worth visiting even for someone who isn't an enthusiast. They also sold various goods, so I bought some to support the museum's continued existence and in place of paying admission. I felt this was a museum that deserves to remain for its historical value. The parking area only holds a few cars.
View on GoogleI didn't know there was a railway called 加悦鉄道. I got curious and came to see it 😄 It was also a railway for transporting chirimen fabric and nickel, but if there is no demand, closure is unavoidable. Imagining where it once ran, I think that although the route was short, it must have passed through beautiful scenery, which makes me want to ride it. I bought a cardboard ticket as a souvenir. The streets of 与謝野町 are lovely too 😊
View on GoogleI visited 加悦鉄道資料館. The preserved rolling stock is in excellent condition, and this is a place where you can feel the history that local people have carefully protected over the years. The exhibits inside are easy to understand, and I could take my time learning about the history of 加悦鉄道. You can explore leisurely in a quiet setting, and I recommend it to railway enthusiasts as well as anyone interested in history.
