We stopped here on our way to Kyoto. Great place to stop to refill water bottles, grab a cold drink or two, and soft serve ice cream. We went up the tower for a 360 view of the surroundings.
View on GoogleVery low cost attraction to get a really nice view all around.
View on GoogleHas so much potential to be better. Popular with cyclists, the place has more scope to offer better amenities, particularly a Cafe or coffee shop.

View on GoogleYou can usually go up for free, but during cherry blossom season, adults need to pay an admission fee of 300円. If it were also free during the busy tourist season, too many people would gather and it would be dangerous, so temporarily charging a fee is probably unavoidable. If you take photos from inside the observation room, reflections of the interior in the windows will appear in your pictures. If you want beautiful photos, you need to take them from the outdoor stairs rather than the observation room. When photographing 背割堤, sunny afternoons tend to be somewhat backlit, so you can get better photos in the morning.
