Such a lovely station. Loved the unique architecture with its concrete themed structure & it's futuristic look. You will also enjoy this station if you're a fan of the anime Hibike Euphonium. You will see several illustrations featuring the cast.

View on GoogleUji Station is a captivating blend of traditional and modern architectural elements, designed by the renowned architect Hiroyuki Wakabayashi. This station is not just a transit point; it’s a cultural landmark that embodies the essence of Uji, the capital of matcha. Wakabayashi’s design is a stunning homage to Uji’s rich history and its famous tea culture. The station features a sleek, minimalist structure with a striking use of wood and glass, creating a warm yet contemporary feel. The roof design mimics traditional Japanese architecture, with its gently curving lines reminiscent of a tea house. This nod to tradition is harmoniously balanced with modern elements, such as large glass panels that allow natural light to flood the interior, creating an inviting and airy atmosphere. The interior of Uji Station is equally impressive, with spacious, well-lit areas that make navigation easy for travelers. The use of natural materials like wood and stone not only enhances the aesthetic appeal but also provides a tactile connection to Uji’s natural beauty. Uji Station’s design reflects Wakabayashi’s vision of creating spaces that are functional yet deeply rooted in local culture. This architectural masterpiece makes Uji a must-see destination, offering visitors a unique gateway to explore the cultural and historical treasures of the matcha capital.
