Lovely small island with a stone pagoda and cormorants that are part of a breeding and/or rescue program. Nice vistas over the Uji river with herons, cormorants and egrets looking for their next meal. Much quieter than Byodoin. Take a rest here after the overcrowded temple. Fresh air and nice water.

Nice to take 10-15 minutes to walk around and admire the view as you cross to the other side. Very peaceful.

Very nice island and you get to see the cormorants. Great place to chill in Uji.

The place is good for walking, jogging or some alone time, felt the fresh air on it and it's near to the sea. Nice view.

Less touristy Arashiyama look alike. If I was asked what my favorite place in Japan is, Uji would be in my top three
