We went to Shubaku on whim after looking it up on the google maps. We didn't have any wait but when we left noticed there was quite a long wait. The food was very affordable and really delicious. Green Tea soba was so delicious and they also had refillable green tea to drink as well for free. I hope to visit Uji again in the future and will go here again and again. We will recommend this place to all our friends and family who visit.

A cosy restaurant which specialises in soba noodles. This place is very popular and generally requires you to queue up. There's a lot of cute drawings on the instructions to how to enjoy eating their soba. I recommend that you come just before the peak periods and also try the plain soba, to thoroughly enjoy the buckwheat flavour and texture. Worth a visit if you are in Uji! 👍😋

This is an old school traditional soba restaurant, very simple soba menu with occasional seasonal dishes. Definitely one of the best I’ve tasted so far

If you visit Uji, this Shubaku is one of the places that you should not miss. Hand made and fresh cooked soba is the best I have ever experienced. Staffs are also very friendly and welcome foreigners. Hand writing menu and instruction are very cute, thoughtful and help us a lot to understand how to order and enjoy. 🍜 ❤️👍🙏

I had to wait almost an entire hour excuse there were around 8 people. I waited from around 1:30 to 2:35. Although the atmosphere was good, I think this place is pretty overrated due to the wait. Not recommended to wait
