A real hidden gem 💎 in Uji! The 5⭐ reviews are totally accurate and well deserved (by the way, we have to thank the reviewer who said it was their best ramen in two months in Japan, because we followed their recommendation). Don’t miss the Tantan Mazesoba — another review perfectly described the very distinctive smoked flavor of the meat. It was incredible. They also have very good artisanal beer 🍺 that you won’t want to miss if you’re a beer connoisseur. Note: you might have to wait a bit to get seated, as it’s a small place. Also, when you see locals waiting to eat somewhere, you know you can’t go wrong. One of the best meals we had in Japan, especially for such a cheap price!

Some people claim this is the best soupless tantanmen in Japan. Reservations can be made online from midnight the day before and are recommended. It's quite sweet and also quite spicy, normal level was more than spicy enough for me. Definitely get a side of rice to soak up the extra sauce. Apparently you can get a side order of chashu if you order a beer. There are many types of mazesoba that sound similar but I guess are all different. Vinegar tantan, garlic shoyu tantan, "strong" tantan, spicy tantan...I want to try them all.

Can get super spicy! But the stock and taste is delicious. No English menu, only Japanese.
