Service was very fast. Nice cool air conditioned room. The ramen bowls are ample and there were a few spicy selections that definitely got a kick. We also tried the matcha gyozas with match powder for dipping on the side. Very tasty but a bit salty.
View on GoogleThis spot, in my humble opinion, is a classic tourist trap that happens to be primely located at the beginning of Byodo-in Omotesando. My fiancée and I had taken an entire day to explore all of Uji and we decided to hop in here to basically end off the excursion with PRE-dinner before actual dinner (we had already gone up and down Ujibashi and Byodo-in Omotesando mind you). We ordered basically everything novel that was made with matcha. Matcha gyoza, matcha ramen, matcha takoyaki, matcha beer. Unsurprisingly, the beer had the most matcha flavour which was expected (matcha happens to pair well as beer already has that inherent bitter aftertaste). For the gyoza, takoyaki and ramen, I literally could not taste a lick of matcha (oh, except for the matcha powder dip for the gyoza LOL). The wrappers for the gyoza were made of matcha (couldn't taste it). The takoyaki batter and sauce were made with matcha (couldn't taste it in either). The ramen noodles were made with matcha (couldn't taste it); there was no matcha used in the broth itself. I know Uji is THE matcha capital but these items were very gimmicky. If you had told me that the chef just put green food colouring in the items and called it a day I would've totally believed you. Service was also a lil more gruff at this spot. We noticed the one waitress working seemed like she was really angling for customers around us to order ramen specifically and would hastily try to take away menus from ppl if they were looking at other menu items.
View on GoogleI tried the viral matcha ramen near the temple. To be honest, I couldn't taste the matcha, but the soup was very rich. I really enjoyed the thickness of the noodles; they were perfectly cooked.
View on GoogleGreat ramen that was matcha flavoured. However, the matcha flavour was weak although still tasty. Excellent karaage and rice bowl dish. Food came really quickly and staff were lovely
View on GoogleQuite a novel place. Ordered the Matcha gyoza and Matcha ice cream. Gyoza was good especially with the matcha salt it came with, not a strong flavour of matcha overall but worth it for the novelty and price. Matcha ice cream was also very nice.
