Don't get me wrong. This store has a really fantastic view, but there are some things that should be fixed as it's such a popular place. Queue is expected as they are popular. However, on the day I visited, it is not that crazy, yet the staff put up notice saying that they are sold out for the day. I felt so bad for an old couple who came from afar and couldn't have desserts and enjoy the scenery. Anyways the notice is taken away after 15 minutes or so, which is clearly a false notice. I had the matcha and hojicha parfait. Matcha soft serve needs huge improvement, as I can only taste sweet in it. The only matcha I can taste is from the jelly, super delicious though. Hojicha on the other hand is okay. 1200 yen for that, on the upper side but understandable. Worth a visit? I would say yes. But the 3-star review has its reason. Hope to see improvements!

Tourist review. The overall experience in this place was not very positive. There are a few good points, but they do not balance the main problems. The building is beautiful, and the view from the window is really nice. It creates a pleasant first impression and a good atmosphere at the beginning. However, the waiting time is very long, and it does not match the level of food you receive. This makes the visit feel less comfortable. Prices are quite high compared to nearby places, which makes the value for money questionable. The taste and quality of the food are average and do not stand out.

Such a perfect place to sit and enjoy your matcha while overlooking the view of Uji river. I recommend sitting upstairs and along the row of seats by the window for the best view. We got their recommended parfait which comes with an iced tea, and we got a matcha latte too. The matcha parfait was very thick and strong in matcha flavour. I would say that if you enjoy bold and strong matcha, this would be nice for you.

Ordered their matcha soft serve for ¥1200. Comes with red beans, Logan and matcha jelly. Market rate of plain matcha soft serve is ¥500 to ¥600. So you decide if the other topping is worth while since most of the matcha ice cream you hardly taste the matcha. I do like the matcha jelly a lot though. It is the one supplies the matcha taste. Totally lack any service tbh my pay wave was having issue and none offered help.

Definitely come to this location instead of the one by the station—it's way less crowded and has an amazing view of the Uji River! I arrived 30 mins before their 10 AM opening and was second in line. Pro-tip: Once they open, head straight to the 2nd floor to snag a window seat, then go back down to order. I had the signature Maruto Parfait and it was delicious (totally worth the price). Since it’s a popular spot for the view, people might stand behind you waiting for your seat, which felt a bit pressuring as a solo traveler, but I still loved it. Also, don't miss the separate shop next door for high-quality tea leaves!
