Matcha Republic (Uji) The Vibe: Sleek, minimalist, and modern. It feels more like a high-end perfume boutique than a traditional tea house. The Highlight: Their famous "Matcha Ink"—premium lattes served in iconic glass ink bottles. The Verdict: • Taste: 4/5 (Surprisingly high-quality stone-ground matcha; not just for show). • Aesthetic: 5/5 (The ultimate Instagram spot in Uji). • Best For: A stylish grab-and-go drink while exploring near Byodoin Temple.
View on GoogleThe matcha latte and ice cream tasted delicious. The matcha latte is prepared professionally — the matcha powder is freshly prepared in front of the customer, and before it is poured into the milk, your number is called, after which the staff pours and serves it to you. The experience is likened to a tea ceremony with a modern twist. Experiencing the matcha latte on a hot afternoon in Uji, Kyoto, is simply refreshing. #foodreviews #matchalatte #matchaicecream
View on Googleoverall good, like modern matcha store in the middle of traditional vibes area. i can understand why they are trying to be different, nevertheless they try to be original. the matcha soft serves ice actually good ( dunno maybe all matcha around this area is really good) and we also purchase the matcha in the parfume bottle (lol). nice experience, enjoy the soft serve in the middle of summer inside their store and see to the outside road
View on GoogleWe came across this spot during a day trip to Uji and decided to try it because of the heavy foot traffic, it seemed promising. Unfortunately, the matcha was pretty underwhelming, especially considering it’s in Uji. It feels like the shop attracts foreigners more for its aesthetics than for the quality of its drinks. The matcha flavor didn’t stand out, and it was overpriced for what you get. Service was also quite slow, which likely explains the constant line. We considered ordering the Cremia ice cream, but noticed the portions being served were much smaller compared to other places we’ve tried. Overall, I’d skip this one, there are plenty of better matcha spots in Uji that offer more value and flavour!
