ロバ天ぷら LovA
Located near Uji/Byodoin Ho-o-do, "LovA" is a specialty restaurant for tempura and seasonal cuisine lunch sets, renovated from a 90-year-old traditional house. We serve tempura fried in 100% rice oil, using natural shrimp, Kyoto raw fu, and pesticide-free local vegetables. We do not use any chemical seasonings or additives, and are very particular about natural ingredients (such as Rishiri kelp and tuna flakes). Our popular "Anago Tendon" uses thick-fleshed natural conger eel shipped directly from a Shimane fishing port. Its fluffy texture and elegant umami are exquisite. There are counters, tatami rooms, and private rooms, so it's safe to bring small children. If you want to enjoy lunch, Japanese food, or tempura in Uji, please visit us. We visited Tempura LovA (天ぷら LovA) during our trip to Uji. While most matcha shops were full house with long queues, we were lucky that there was no waiting time, and we could enjoy our meal comfortably on the first floor. We ordered the 2 tempura set and the mackerel set. Both were very good, the tempura was light, crispy, and not oily, while the mackerel was nicely grilled, juicy, and full of flavor. The atmosphere was cozy with a refined touch, and the service was attentive and friendly. Overall, a delicious meal with great quality
View on GoogleI was recommended by a Japanese friend to try this restaurant, and I'm so glad I did! The restaurant is absolutely charming, with a traditional Japanese aesthetic that really sets the mood. There are both regular tables with chairs and an option to sit on the floor, offering a true Japanese dining experience. The décor is thoughtfully done and really adds to the atmosphere. Plus, there's a small garden outside that looks beautiful and adds to the serene vibe of the place. I ordered a set meal, and it was both visually impressive and delicious. The flavors were spot-on, and I thoroughly enjoyed every bite. The prices are very reasonable, especially given the quality of the food and the experience. The owner was friendly and made me feel very welcome. Overall, I highly recommend this place for anyone looking to enjoy a traditional Japanese dining experience in a cozy, inviting setting.
View on GoogleOne of the best matcha cheese cake The texture is only a bit creamy but the taste is super lovely with delicate matcha aroma with less sweetness Most of matcha shops here add tons of sugar just like they wanna get you into diabetes However this shop use the right amount of sugar, which is really amazing !
View on GoogleUnfortunately it was closed when we reach here. Better luck next time we come to Kyoto. Heard it was popular for ramen, fried vegetables, etc
View on GoogleA very cute place. They have table and floor seating. The food is very good. Miso has subtle flavor and the tempura is crispy and delicious.
