Went here for an early lunch on a weekday. We were seated immediately. They have an extensive menu. You can enjoy both a meal or a dessert. I ordered the Uji Matcha Nishin Soba with Mini Parfait Set. You can upgrade it to the seasonal parfait for an additional fee. Got the Hydrangea Mini Parfait. The presentation of the food was really beautiful. The Hydrangea/ Ajisai Mini Parfait was so cute as well. Tastewise, it was light in flavor but still good. Enjoyed our meal here.
View on GoogleOkay folks, what a treat. This is a must try Matcha dessert cafe in Uji. It's a bit off the main area so i didn't see many tourists in here. We waited close to 45-60 minutes but well worth it for a dine in experience. The matcha desserts were so delicious and we even received a coupon to go shopping in their store. NOW LET ME TELL YOU, we brought 1 of everything in their store and paid the tax free. We are enjoy all the snacks we brought from this store and sad to finish it day by day. If you love Matcha, you MUST stop by here, even if its just to shop in their store. Thank you to the wonderful staff who were so kind and welcoming, even if we only spoke English. You helped us so kindly.

View on GoogleItohkyuemon — A Refined Journey Through Matcha Desserts and Gyokuro Stepping into Itohkyuemon in Uji feels like entering a quiet sanctuary built entirely around the spirit of tea. The warm wooden exterior, the gently swaying white noren, and the soft lighting inside all work together to slow down time. It is the kind of place where every sound seems softened, as if inviting you to experience tea with full attention. ⸻ Matcha Dessert — A Green Symphony of Texture and Balance The matcha parfait arrives like a carefully composed ode to Uji. This is not merely a dessert—it is a layered expression of matcha’s breadth, from delicate freshness to deep bitterness. The top layer of velvety whipped cream and crisp matcha wafer strikes the first chord: smooth and fragrant, with a hint of airy sweetness. Beneath it, a harmony of matcha jelly, shiratama, red bean paste, and citrus creates a vivid rhythm of flavors: • Matcha jelly brings a cool, gentle bitterness. • Shiratama mochi adds a tender, chewy pause. • Candied citrus lifts the entire composition with a bright, refreshing note. Near the base, matcha pudding and matcha ice cream build toward a richer intensity, revealing the unmistakable depth of Uji matcha—bold yet beautifully rounded, finishing with a clean, lingering aroma. The accompanying bowl of freshly whisked matcha ties the experience together. Frothy, vivid green, and perfectly balanced between bitterness and sweetness, it acts as a counterpoint to the dessert, sharpening the senses and highlighting every nuance. ⸻ Gyokuro — Sweetness Drawn From Time, Temperature, and Patience The gyokuro service is almost ceremonial. Everything is arranged with intention: the small teacups, the hourglass timer, the warm kettle, and the bowl of deep-green tea leaves. Brewing gyokuro becomes an intimate ritual. Using low-temperature water, the first infusion extracts a remarkable sweetness—soft, round, and almost fruit-like. There is no bitterness at all. The tea glides over the tongue like a thin sheet of warm silk, leaving behind a gentle seaweed aroma characteristic of premium shade-grown leaves. Each subsequent infusion reveals a new facet: • The second infusion opens up, fuller and more aromatic, with sweetness still at the forefront. • The third infusion becomes lighter and cleaner, offering a refreshing finish to the experience. Drinking gyokuro here is a reminder that the finest flavors are coaxed out through slowness—waiting, listening, and respecting the tea’s nature. ⸻ Conclusion Itohkyuemon does more than serve matcha and tea—it delivers a complete immersion into the heritage of Uji. The matcha parfait showcases the versatility of matcha in flavor and texture, while the gyokuro reveals the quiet sophistication of Japanese tea craftsmanship. Every spoonful, every sip feels like turning another page of Uji’s long-standing tea culture. For anyone seeking to understand matcha and gyokuro at their best, Itohkyuemon is not just worth visiting—it is essential.
