This was a much better dining experience than Shigetsu at Tenryu-ji, simply because of how zen and therapeutic the whole experience was. I could feel my nerves calming after stepping into the compound. It was quiet, no crowd, in a zen garden with the sound of water, birds chirping and gentle rustling of the bamboo in the breeze. Service was tops, and the dishes were served in batches. We got a free private room by the window in a tatami setting and we got seats (no need to kneel down for a long time yay). We took our own sweet time to savour every bite and spent 2 hours there, never once rushed. Food was creative and delectable. Truly a therapeutic experience that I would highly recommend!! Do note that they only accept cash and you must book in advance. I emailed them and received a confirmation the next day.

Compared to Fucha cuisine at Manpuku-ji or other popular shojin ryori shops in other regions, this place feels more fashionable, creative, and skillful. I was impressed because they utilize various ingredients to create beautiful colors and innovate with flavor changes. The fried food is especially good. The garden and interior are also lovely, and I would like to visit again. However, the staff are too professional, which makes them feel like robots, which is a bit of a pity. I feel that a more relaxed and warm service style would suit this type of cuisine. Especially since it's next to a magnificent temple.

The thatched-roof building and beautiful Japanese garden catch the eye. We enjoyed Fucha cuisine, which was influenced by shojin ryori from the Ming Dynasty of China, in a room overlooking the garden. The dishes were served in the order of the menu and there was an explanation from the staff, so we were able to fully enjoy Fucha cuisine for the first time. Inside the room, letters from cultural figures such as Kafu Nagai and Ujo Noguchi were mounted on a folding screen, who were said to be people who interacted with the owner of this shop at the time.
