Museum located in an elegant villa showing Japanese folk art & modern European art.

At this museum, which adds the underground building "Underground Jewel Box" and the Yamate building "Box of Dreams," designed by architect Ando Tadao, to "Oyamazaki Sanso," a villa built by businessman Kaga Shotaro from the Taisho to early Showa periods, you can enjoy, along with special exhibitions held several times a year, the collection of Yamamoto Tamesaburo, the first president of Asahi Breweries and a supporter of the Mingei Movement, as well as the "Water Lilies" series known as representative works of Impressionist master Claude Monet. In addition, the garden, located halfway up Mount Tennozan with a site area of about 5500 tsubo, is planted with numerous plants that delight the eye through the four seasons. As of July 1, 2023, the museum's name was changed to "Asahi Group Oyamazaki Villa Museum of Art"…

The scenaries and service is amazing. there is a small hike before you reach the place. it’s near a hiking trail too. ticket for university students is 700 yen. the weather is very nice, highly recommend going on sunny days. taking photos inside is not allowed, however outside is okay. the nature looks so fresh, and well-cared. Tadao Ando architecture is spectacular.

A beautiful private art collection displayed right in the middle of the suburb between Osaka and Kyoto. It’s a wonderful, peaceful place and honestly one of the best spots to visit around this area.

Good climb up a hill. Fantastic view. Not exactly a place for you to find Monet paintings, and the bonus are 1910s-1930s first prints.

It's a nice museum but they lose a star for not allowing any photography inside any of the buildings. I wasn't interested in photographing the artwork. I went there to study the architecture and construction. The main house is a beautiful old building and the people who renovated it did an amazing job. The café is one of the best museum cafés I've eaten at. There's a free shuttle that takes visitors from the Hankyu and JR stations. Backpacks are not allowed in the museum so you'll have to stow yours in a coin locker in the small building on the driveway that leads up to the museum.
