Café & Gallery Saika is one of those rare places where tradition, atmosphere, and location come together beautifully. The menu showcases a thoughtful selection of Japanese sweets made with rice flour, red beans, chestnut mochi, and fragrant black soybean tea. Each dessert feels crafted with care — the kind of food that nourishes both body and soul. Whether it’s the handmade daifuku, the soft rice‑flour chiffon cake, or the warm zenzai with tochi rice cake, every item carries the comforting depth of classic Japanese flavors. The café itself has a peaceful, welcoming atmosphere. It’s the perfect spot to slow down, enjoy something sweet, and appreciate the surrounding countryside. The gallery element adds an extra layer of charm, giving the space a cultural warmth that makes the experience feel even more special. Its location is another strong point. The café sits close to several local landmarks, including the Miyama Folk Museum, Kitainari Shrine, and Fumyoji Temple. It’s an ideal stop during a walk through the village, offering a quiet moment of rest between visits to these historical and cultural sites. Café & Gallery Saika is more than a place to eat — it’s a gentle, nourishing pause in the heart of Miyama, where traditional sweets and local heritage blend into a memorable experience.
View on GoogleIt's the biggest cafe (18 seater) amongst all the other little spots within Miyama village (excluding the soba noodles place across the road near the carpark) and one with the nicest ambience, and the most extensive menu of offerings. The dine-in menu is different from the takeout menu. There is also a section on souvenirs and a separate pottery gallery where pottery is on sale.
View on GoogleAbsolutely charming hidden gem. Beautiful Japanese-style interior with a calm, peaceful vibe. The hand-drip coffee was excellent. Loved the handmade desserts and art gallery inside. Staff were kind and welcoming. A perfect spot to relax and enjoy some quiet time. Highly recommended!
View on GoogleThe ice cream really is very good. Its got this sticky texture, maybe from how much cream it has The coffee though, is not very impressive
View on GoogleDon't miss this special ice cream. The cone was crunchy and delicious, and the ice cream was fantastic. 500 yen per serving. The only downside was that they don't allow eating ice cream inside their indoor dining area. But, the surroubding was so instagramable. 3 stars
