This is a nationally registered tangible cultural property remaining in Nagaokakyo City. Built facing the old Tanba road, the building that once supported regional medical care as a hospital is now preserved as the Tamura family residence. It appears to be architecture from the Meiji to Taisho period. While based on traditional Japanese house construction (Irimoya-zukuri), its greatest feature is the incorporation of modern (slightly western-style) designs typical of a 'hospital' at the time, such as the extensive use of glass windows on both the 1st and 2nd floors. It seems to have given a modern and clean impression to people passing through the street. Other cultural properties on the same site The following buildings are also registered as nationally registered tangible cultural properties on the same site. 'Ninmutei' is a charming tea room with a roof that combines thatched and tiled roofing. It is a roofed structure covering a well, conveying the lifestyle of the time.
