山のテーブルYama No Teeburu
This is a restaurant by advance reservation only. It is a course meal. (Closed in winter from Jan-Mar / Closed in summer in August) Minamiyamashiro Village, Kyoto, where beautiful tea plantations spread out. This place is located on the border of four prefectures: Nara, Shiga, and Mie. It is located in the Dosenbo area, which has the highest altitude among the main Uji tea producing areas and has a large temperature difference, which is said to produce particularly delicious tea. In an old kindergarten building on a mountain surrounded by tea plantations, we aim to be a place where people and regions are connected through food with long, relaxed tables. These are one-day-only dishes using local seasonal ingredients and mountain plants. □ Business days: Sundays and Mondays (irregular holidays, please be sure to check business days on the website or SNS)...

This place exceeded my expectations in every single way! It was not like any restaurant I’d been to before. Each dish was so unique and creative. The lunch course was about three-hour lunch, the best three hours I’ve ever spent dining! Will definitely go back. Totally worth the trek to the top of the mountain.
View on GoogleLovely quiet restaurant run from an old kindergarten in the mountains by this adorable couple. Came here with my family. Only my dog stayed at home. 🥺 All dishes are created to highlight the harmony of the local ingredients. Even spices are procured fresh. This wasn't as limiting as it sounds at all, because both the chef and patissier make the effort to create interesting combinations of flavor. And they really know their ingredients :) I had the best onion soup ever that was seasoned with only salt. The owners publish a magazine with an English and French foreign-language edition, and as a Canadian I couldn't help the tears from pooling in my eyes to think there are people in the mountain with such a desire to share their culture even with people like me 🥹
View on GoogleMagnificent. Unlike anything I have ever experienced before.
View on GoogleA very stylish cafe restaurant on the mountain, which is a renovated former kindergarten building🍽 The chef & owner are designers for town development, design, and cooking. It seems they encountered this Minamiyamashiro village while working in various regions😊 While producing the quarterly free paper "Yamabiko" that conveys the richness and culture of the village (creators can do anything!), they prepared "Yama no Table" while getting information about the village and conversely conveying it to the city. The cooking was learned self-taught, but there are tastes that are new and fresh! I was also healed by the kindness of the two people at the shop😊
View on GoogleNHK Chiisana Tabi, Minamiyamashiro village, right. Takahiro Tsuinaka and Natsuko-san who run the restaurant. Natsuko-san used to be a singer, and now she is doing town revitalization with the local people in Minamiyamashiro village, creating a rich community, it's wonderful.
