While traveling, I came across a restaurant that served crispy and tender pork cutlets. With one bite, the meat was juicy and flavorful. The restaurant was large and had a parking lot. 1
View on GoogleKatsugen (かつ源) is a rather popular chain restaurant all around Japan, so after another hard (read: enjoyable) weekend evening of car modifications, my friend and I went to one of their locations in Maizuru, Kyoto. They offer a wide variety of various fried katsu on the menu, but they also offer unlimited servings of their sliced cabbage, choices of dressings, miso soup, and rice. I ordered the Jumbo Roast Katsu Set (250g of pork goodness... over 1/2 pound!) at 1780¥ with the intention of taking anything I couldn't finish home. Fat chance. Even with several helpings of the all-you-can-eat cabbage and rice, I managed to finish it all voraciously. (Yes, the fullness resulted in labored breathing and walking later, but it was a good idea at the time...) Delicious and extremely satisfying, all at a good price. Can't ask for much more than that.
View on GoogleGreat little cheap eat in the area on my way to my destination, the quality is good for the price.
View on GoogleVisited at lunch, no waiting, and sat at a table. Ordered the Jumbo Roast Katsu set & pork soup with barley rice and waited a while... cabbage was brought over and I immediately tried it with Japanese dressing... perfect for this heat👍 Then tried it with sesame dressing... nice for a change of flavor‼️ Once the main dish arrived, I ground the sesame... chose the spicy sauce... tried the katsu... thick and delicious🐽 Tonkatsu and barley rice are the best combination... it's delicious but the price is very high, so I'll deduct 1 star🌟.
View on GoogleI had a weekday lunch. I was surprised because the fried chicken was huge! The roast katsu was also delicious. The service is excellent, as you can choose between coarse or fine breadcrumbs, and you can get free refills of rice, cabbage, and miso soup.
