If you need a quick meal I would recommend. I thought the udon was surprisingly good considering it came from a vending machine. You can also get burgers and cup noodle from a vending machine.
View on GoogleAs a retro vending machine fan, I took advantage of GW 2026 to visit the "Drive-in Daruma" that I had been longing for. Riding a motorcycle from Tokyo, the atmosphere I finally reached was truly the largest retro vending machine paradise in Western Japan that still retains the scent of the Showa era. "Noodle vending machine" that miraculously continues to operate My target was the udon, soba, and ramen vending machine that is now rare. Because it was GW, the place was crowded with many people, but the cup that came out after inserting money and a countdown of about 30 seconds was a special taste that permeated the body tired from the long journey. The ramen, which is simple but rich in dashi, feels like it has a warmth that you wouldn't imagine being made by a machine. However, because it is vending machine ramen, the taste cannot be said to be delicious... A space where time seems to have stopped Inside the shop, hamburger vending machines and nostalgic game machines are lined up, making you feel as if you have traveled through time. The building itself is old, but that adds to its charm. Seeing the staff diligently performing maintenance and refilling, I felt a deep sense of gratitude that they are supporting this culture. Not only the vending machines, but the urinals in the toilet are also a type that is no longer seen now, so I accidentally took a picture of them. It is not close to the city center, but it is a place worth visiting once for riders. Just to see those unique "nixie tube" numbers, I might end up driving a long distance again in a few years. As an aside, a local Kansai information program also came to cover it.
View on GoogleA long-awaited visit to "Drive-in Daruma", the holy land of Showa retro vending machines. The exterior standing along the Yura River is already the best, but inside the shop, an emotional space that seems to have traveled through time stretches out even further. I bought udon at the yellow noodle vending machine I was aiming for. After waiting 27 seconds, udon in a plastic container comes out. The scent of dashi drifts, and when I took a sip, I was surprised by the authentic quality that felt nostalgic and the strong flavor of the dashi. The balance between the noodles, dashi, and ingredients was exquisite, and the nostalgic atmosphere became an additional seasoning that made it taste the best. Inside the shop, not only noodles, but also hamburger and chewing gum vending machines, and valuable retro game machines that are no longer seen now are lined up, and as a Showa generation, I feel happy just being there. In the Reiwa era, I can only be grateful to the owner and staff who continue to keep this quality and condition in operation. Besides being photogenic, it is a place that has extraordinary value as an "experience". I think this is a famous spot that you should definitely visit if you come to Maizuru. How about visiting it together with the nearby Hakurei Sake Brewery?
View on GoogleFirst visit on a certain day in June 2026 The old-fashioned atmosphere of the store interior Very retro Customers keep coming in one after another. The situation inside the store is as shown in the videos and photos. There are vending machines for hamburgers, gum, ramen, udon (2 types). There was also a microwave. This time, I bought Kitsune Udon and Tempura Udon, then a hot dog and a hamburger! It's a pity that the udon broth was lukewarm. In the back, there were game machines. There were also several crane games. If you are nearby, it's worth stopping by. It will be one of your travel memories ♪
View on GoogleA drive-in where time stopped in the early Heisei era. The hamburgers are so delicious that I can't help but buy them. This is a cultural heritage that must never be lost. The ramen vending machine is also nostalgic and good. For families with small children, I think it's good to let them know about the culture of the past. I want today's children to know how delicious juice drunk from a bottle is.
