I toured this with the Vice Admiral of the JMSDF, I found the grounds to be tranquil and beautifully maintained and the artifacts and history on show informative and interesting

There is a day once a month when you can visit, and I went to match that. Admission is free. Because it was a filming location for the movie "My Happy Marriage," there were many female customers. The weather was nice that day, and the good light coming in made it even more wonderful. It felt like I had entered the world of the movie ☺️

I heard it could only be visited on the first Sunday of the month, so I adjusted my travel schedule to that... For some reason, all the visitors except me were women. There was a line about 20 meters long for taking commemorative photos in order. It was not in a state where you could look around calmly. I don't really understand.

A place that is only open once a month on the first Sunday. It is convenient to print and fill out the application form from the website in advance. For parking, if you park at Nishimon Park right next to it, it is a 1-2 minute walk. Even if you don't know about Admiral Togo, it feels like touring a quiet Japanese residence.

This is the official residence where Togo Heihachiro, the legendary naval admiral called the Nelson of the East, lived when he was stationed in Maizuru. The interior is divided into a Western-style building and a Japanese-style room, and this style is reminiscent of the old Kure Naval District Commander's official residence (Irifuneyama Memorial Museum) in Kure, which is nice. When I visited, there was another event and it was specially opened to the public, but usually, as other reviewers have written, it is a place that is only open for a limited period, so if you have the timing, it might be worth trying to go (^-^)
