This is a Portuguese specialty restaurant where you can enjoy wine and drinks. As a small, casual, and warm home-cooking restaurant, we introduce Portuguese specialties in Kyoto with traditional recipes adapted to Japanese food culture, crafted with care and deep flavors that suit the Japanese palate—a taste you won't find anywhere else in the world. Our rustic bread, corn bread, broa (corn and rye bread), bacalhau (salted cod), and bacon are all homemade. The 'food and wine' pairing is kept simple. All the wine in the shop is from Portugal, ranging from the famous Vinho Verde to Porto...

I visited this restaurant on the recommendation of a very dear friend in England. He has deep roots in Portugal, and thanks to him, I found this hidden gem. The chef was quiet and reserved, but his hospitality was incredibly warm and sincere. Though I have never been to Portugal, the atmosphere and the flavors made me feel as if I were already there, catching a glimpse of the beautiful landscape my friend knows so well. The food was wonderful—light, healthy, and perfectly suited to a Japanese palate, yet the deep, authentic essence of the fish shone through in every bite. If my wish comes true, I hope to return here with him one day. I have a feeling the food would taste even more special if we shared it together.

We couldn't wait to come and we were extremely pleased. The owner/chef/everything is not to be beaten. He's a one of a kind person!! His food, restaurant experience as well as personal recommendation for sights, etc is unparalleled. Don't just come here, RUN HERE! I only took a few pictures. The rest of our meal was a seasonal rabbit stew, a traditional bean and sausage stew with rice and a delicious dessert similar to creme brulee with coffee and port. Wonderful 😊

So my wife (being Portuguese) was mega excited to find this place whilst in Kyoto - clearly we had to visit! Really nice little place very authentic with Marcelo a super host. He does it all (real 1 man band!). Marcelo speaks impeccable English, Portuguese and Japanese - seeing him flip between the languages is wild! We had some bacalhau croquettes and caldo verde to start (both really good, the croquettes he makes with bechamel sauce - so tasty). Unfortunately somebody else had just ordered the last portion of the main I had my eye on, so I opted for the bacalhau a bras. It was more of a bacalhau omelette than the bacalhau a bras I am used to, but it was really tasty. We also shared a bottle of vinho verde which was wonderful. A really enjoyable meal with a great host.

Everything was extremely delicious, handmade bread, kosher and vegetarian delice, and the chef is truly adorable. It tends to get sold out because so tasty, so better go early or make reservations! And you can even get Brazilian cocktails like Caipirinha to match the exotic food. Very healthy and made with much care by the owner chef Marcelo, a must try when visiting Kyoto!! Just 18 minutes walk from Shijo Karasuma, you can walk along the river for a while! Can't wait to go back to this little gem and kind-hearted people!!

Enjoyed the food a lot and also enjoyed listening to my husband talking with someone in Portugese. Food was good and surprisingly fast. The bread that comes with it was also great. I really enjoyed our Valentine’s dinner, the music in Fado adds to the vibe too♥️ Looking forward to our next visit.
