One of my favorite meals in Japan!!! Had the Tantan ramen set meal for 2500 yen. The ramen was DELICIOUS! Flavorful, rich, sweet & salty, level 3 spiciness was on point and added to the already rich flavors. The eggplant sashimi was surprisingly amazing, especially the eggplant which I usually don't enjoy much but they roasted and carmelized it so well that every bite of it was delightful! The potato salad was a refreshing addition to the experience of a traditional Japanese meal. The pudding was very sweet which I LOVED. The service is excellent, the two waiters that serviced me were kind and knew enough English to communicate. The entrance path is just lovely and the inside is super cozy and homey, but not in a messy way. Not a lot of sittings though so not for big groups of more than 4 I'd say. I've been a month in Japan and unfortunately as a vegan I wouldn't have a lot of must visit restaurants I'd recommend, or meals I enjoyed completely. But this place is one I think you do need to put in your must visit in Kyoto. P.s. They have 2 cakes and 3 ice cream flavors
View on GoogleVegan restaurant located in what seems to be a person's house. Towzen Musashi - Ramen had a rich and creamy soy milk broth, but somehow it left more to be desired. The ramen with chorella broth left a greater impression as a truly unique taste Vegan unagi sushi was decent, the unagi was a little too thin, with proportion of rice to topping being too much. Soy pudding was pretty good.
View on GoogleWe had Such a beautiful meal at Towzen. I had the set menu number 2 and it was the best ramen I’ve had on my Japan trip! The potato salad, sushi and soy pudding were also delicious :) the service was very good as well. Thank you! The setting of the restaurant is very cosy as well, and the entrance way is a beautiful leafy lane!
View on GoogleMake sure to reserve ahead of the time via Line. They have very limited space and did not take walk-in at the time of our visit. The food is amazing. The ramen has very unique soy milk based soup with lots of options. The eggplant sushi is the bomb. Came with the set meal or can be ordered separately. Overall, great experience at TowZen and would love to visit again.
View on GoogleI love the ambiance of this cute tiny place from the front of the store, the hallway, and inside the restaurant, everything is pretty. We ordered ala cart mushasi ramen and tantan ramen, for vegan dishes, we loved them. Soy milk soup is very rich and tasty, although the level of richness was a bit too much for me. Additionally, we ordered vegan gateu chocolate with vanilla ice cream. The chocolate is predominantly bitter but we like it and it pairs really well with their vanilla ice cream. However, I think the menu is a bit overpriced, and they don't have a dedicated parking lot, including bicycle.
