This is one of the places to go in Nishiki Market, Kyoto if you crave for floats, parfaits, western style servings but at the same time looking to try the infamous Japanese omurice and hambagu. Upfront, there is a big display that showcase their foods or dishes to choose from… really appetizing. Caution: not exactly 1:1 but almost the same as sizes are a bit puffed up. Good portions. Prices vary but all within reasonable ranges and there are multiple combo meals offered. Itadakimasu. First time having omurice and hambagu. Both were a treat and Oishii. The omelet wrapping the orange rice fill with a slight tang of spice and with the selected protein on top (ie, tonkatsu pork cutlet or chicken or hambagu, flavors vary. The Neapolitan spaghetti did not disappoint, light and cheesy. Good Value meal. The way to order is on a QR code that opens an ordering app. Food takes a bit long time to serve. The servers were fine, average fast food type, and not able to speak English. My soda drink was not served on time and had to ask for it. Though the door hostess that handles the waiting line were more smiling and warm which is a plus as waiting for a table took awhile too. Guess, this place is well sought in this busy market by younger customers because It is tailored from a western diner concept of the 1940s.
View on GoogleThe food was amazing along with the service. There hamburgb steak and sauce is some of the best I've had. The omurice was also great especially with the sauce. The karage was a bit underwhelming but still enjoyable. Overall pretty good place would come back.
View on GoogleThe food was incredible, the price was very good for something that delicious and contundent. The service was impecable, we had a little difficulties talking about conditions, because we didn’t talk japanese, but they helped un very happily. The athmosphere was also very good: good temperature, good organitzation and very comfortable seats. The unique thing that I missed was a bit of relaxing, but I totally understand that a restaurant this good has lots of people, so I didn’t care at all.
View on GoogleI happened to walk into this place by chance, but it turned out to be a great choice! It seems like everyone in Kyoto knows it – it has the vibe of a local, old-school Western-style diner, and omelette rice appears to be their signature dish. I ordered a pretty hearty option called the Cheese & Hamburg Gratin Omurice. It felt incredibly indulgent, so even though the price was the same, I went for the half-rice portion. The sauce could have been a bit more generous, but the hamburg steak was delicious, so I was satisfied. About half of the customers were foreigners, and the place was really lively.
View on GoogleAmazing food!! Me and my family loved the delicious and tasty looking food! The atmosphere is also really great, the food was also pretty fairly priced. Would recommend
