Visited here as a solo diner at night. Made a reservation online before coming here as it seemed pretty popular. There is a huge group of foreigners, probably part of a tour group when I was there and I had the counter seat. It is an izakaya-style eatery so there is a cover charge which comes with some appetizers. For that day, it included vegetables seasoned with sesame oil, tofu and a pressed sushi, all of it is pretty decent. I ordered the signature Crab Cream Croquette, which has a beautiful, creamy crab filling. The yuba tempura which is a fried fritter of soft tofu skin was unique and very delicious. The unagi omelette is generous in portion and comes with taro paste too. Ended with an ankake broth dish with lightly fried fish. Would love to come back again to try the other dishes. Even if you are not fluent in Japanese, the seasonal and regular items are available to order on an I-Pad provided which comes with both English and Japanese settings.

One of the best izakayas I ate at while in Japan. We had dinner in a “private” table set-up and listening to soft music in the background - it was very authentic. My favorite were the sashimi, the seared beef and the fried taro - fantastic! They charge you an appetizer fee (a reasonable one) but they announce it in English before you go in so that is fair. They have English speaking staff, who are really helpful and accomodating, and they dont close as early as other places in the area. Oishii desu!

We booked a dinner at this popular Izakaya across the street from our hotel 2 days earlier, when we passed and asked the staff. They're quite friendly and English menu is available, if you asked. We ordered mix sashimi, kani-cream korokke, wasabi tako, two rice pots (with scallop and sea bream fish). There's also appetizer provided as otoshi (¥ 600 each person). Total costs for the dinner were about ¥ 8,230, not cheap but reasonable. Quality of food are OK, but nothing special though quite unique. The ones we like are the sashimi while the rice pots might be acquired taste since they're quite bland. The place has reasonable ambience, but not really big space so better book early if you want to have dinner here. You can pay with V/MC credit cards, so no need to worry about high amount cash payment.

600 yen upfront for an “aperitif” — thank you for the entrance fee. The aperitif itself is one piece of sushi plus tofu-in-liquid that feels like a small test of how hungry you really are. Ordered wagyu “seared,” got it cold. Efficient concept: less chewing, more defrosting. Potato salad comes with pork, not stated anywhere. My colleague can’t eat pork for religious reasons. Replacement? Nope. Instead, we got a full-on server conference at the table — no English, but the message was crystal clear: goodwill is not on the menu. They took the potato salad away… and still charged us for it. I call that pay-per-misunderstanding. The tablet ranking says crab cream croquettes are #1. I say the ranking is the most creative thing in the restaurant. We’re eating somewhere now where “served hot” actually means hot.
