I was planning to eat at the Honke Daiichi Asahi, which is right next to the Shinpuku Saikan, but the line was insanely long, so I ended up going to Sinpuku Saikan instead. There were only a few people waiting and it didn't take a long time to get seated. The ramen was not as salty as dark-colored broth migh suggest, but there was nothing particularly memorable about it. As for the fried rice , it was decent enough but I don't think it'll remain in my memory for long. The food was decent , but not worth waiting in a long line for.
View on GoogleHighly recommend it to gourmets looking for a local ramen shop. The noodles are tasty, and the fried rice might be even better than the noodles. Don’t miss out on either of them. By the way, I suggest having it for breakfast. That’s how local people in Kyoto enjoy it.
View on GoogleHaving Soy sauce base ramen for breakfast.. it has roasted pork, spring onion, raw egg, bean sprouts. Not very salty and the ramen texture is al dente. Before it is open, there is already along Q with locals. Very hearty breakfast!
View on GoogleGood shouyu (soy sauce) based ramen bar with an English menu. The flavour was quite salty, and while it was delicious, it could have been more balanced. The meal was good value with lots of pork. There was a staff member who could speak english which was helpful. For 2500 yen I got a large bowl of ramen with extra pork, an extra plate of meat and vegetables, and a large bottle or beer. The pork was tasty, though contained many pieces of fat scattered around the bowl for flavour. I know some Japanese love that, but it's not to my taste. It was packed even in the middle of winter , and had a small line outside , though not as long as next door.
View on GoogleThe soy based ramen was rich and delicious with the perfect hint of soy sauce. The fried rice was sooo good. The rice has a slight bite, making the rice a bit sticky and easy to eat with your chopsticks. A MUST eat when you're in the neighborhood. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
