What a great way to beat the heat on a hot day of touring Nijo castle. How often do you get the opportunity to enjoy a delicious Macha shaved ice and sit in the beautiful gardens of such a celebrated cultural location. There was one a 2 minute wait while they cleared a bench for me. Wondeful stop

Iced matcha latte and hot chocolate were expensive 1000yen each and werent strong/good. Paying only for the vibes. Plus there is a queue to enter

After a hot morning exploring Nijo Castle, Sabo Maeda offered a welcome and relaxing break. While not as traditional as some tea houses in Japan, it was a comfortable spot to cool down. The ice cream floats and shaved ice were just what we needed, and the gardens surrounding the tea room added a beautiful and peaceful touch to the experience. A nice place to stop if you're in the area.
