Amazing place in the beautiful Pontocho street. The dining room is stunning, you sit on the floor without your shoes (there's space under the table to put your legs so it's comfortable) and it feels really cozy. We ate at the counter, the best choice and everyone was really kind. We had 2 tempura courses, shabu shabu for 2 and 3 beers for less than 9000 Yen, pretty much a good deal. Would come back for sure.
View on Google⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Absolutely wonderful Kyoto dining experience! Today is our second day in Kyoto, and the weather couldn’t be more perfect — crisp air, beautiful sunlight, and the autumn leaves just starting to show their colors. We spent the whole day exploring Kiyomizu-dera, and Kyoto completely blew our minds. The real experience was so much more breathtaking than what we had ever seen on YouTube! By dinner time, we were hoping to enjoy a kaiseki-ryōri style meal, but the restaurant we wanted was fully booked, so we made a reservation for the next day. On our way back, we accidentally discovered this restaurant — Pontocho Suishin, and it turned out to be one of the best surprises of our trip! Everything — from the service and presentation to the flavor and freshness of each dish — was simply outstanding. The staff were kind and attentive, and the cozy atmosphere made us feel relaxed after a long sightseeing day. The prices were also very reasonable for the quality and attention to detail. If you are visiting Kyoto and want to try authentic Kyoto-style dishes (Kyo-yasai and Obanzai) in a traditional yet welcoming setting, I highly recommend Pontocho Suishi. This place deserves a full five stars!
View on GoogleFirst proper dinner in kyoto and it was absolutely delicious!! We were able to get a table almost straight away and service was very good and prompt. This was a very nice dining experience but also very reasonably priced for what you get. There seems to be a focus on quality ingredients and the menu is very big so there is lots to choose from. We had the shabu shabu, the grilled yellow tail, and the grilled eggplant, and would recommend all of these dishes! Also worth noting I have a dairy and beef allergy and there were plenty of options for me.
View on GoogleWas looking for Toufu and settled with this restaurant. It didn’t disappoint! The Toufu hotpot is so amazing, the soy milk is so fresh and tasty, the Toufu is soft and silky. Steam egg with crab roe is also silky smooth. I love the Kinako ice cream!! 🍨 highly recommended and I’m coming back! The staff and environment are sugoiiiii too! 🥰🥰🥰
