This place is an amazing kept secret. One of our best meals so far in all of kyoto, the pizza was phenomenal. Hockey our server was so sweet and helpful. Unique flavors fresh out of the oven and a great value for what you're getting. The lunch special comes with pizza salad soup for ¥3000. Everything was fine to table fresh I really unique and enjoyable experience.
View on GooglePizzeria Mamma was hands down one of our favorite dining experiences in Japan. If you’re looking for authentic Neapolitan-style pizza with a Japanese twist, this place absolutely delivers. From the moment the pizzas arrived at our table, we knew we were in for something special. The crust was perfectly blistered from the wood-fired oven—light, airy, and with just the right amount of char. Every bite tasted like it came straight from Naples. The highlight of our meal was the white pizza topped with fresh shirasu (Japanese whitebait) and green onions. It was unlike anything we’ve ever had before and perfectly showcased Japan’s ability to elevate traditional cuisine with local ingredients. The combination of flavors was simple yet unforgettable. We also ordered another incredible pizza featuring rich cheese, savory meat, and a perfectly cooked egg in the center. Breaking the yolk and letting it blend with the melted cheese created one of the most indulgent and delicious bites of our entire trip. What makes Pizzeria Mamma special isn’t just the food—it’s the experience. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, the service was excellent, and you can tell there’s a passion for quality in every dish that leaves the kitchen. Japan is known for its attention to detail, and Pizzeria Mamma is no exception. It’s remarkable to find pizza of this caliber halfway around the world, and in many ways, it rivals some of the best we’ve had anywhere. If you’re visiting Japan, do yourself a favor and make a stop at Pizzeria Mamma. Exceptional ingredients, incredible flavors, and a memorable dining experience make this an easy five stars.
View on GoogleThe pasta with crab is amazing! The pizza dough is delicious and the topping flavors are subtle and soft, we got the kujo fish and peppers. The dishes were not too salty (over salty can happen in japan and Italian dishes, so this was a plus) Great for me, but if you want more heavy seasoning and flavor…be aware. Portions are small for the price. We went during dinner when they opened and got a seat
View on GoogleThe pizza here was really good. We came in for a late lunch around 2:00 PM and were seated immediately with no wait. The service was great, and the overall atmosphere was very welcoming. I highly recommend trying the Bismark pizza and the cheese pizza—both were delicious. Definitely a must-visit!
View on Googlewas really disappointed with the food at Mama. The pizza was soggy and dough was almost uncooked, extremely bland, and clearly made with low quality ingredients. There was no real flavor, and it just felt poorly executed overall. The space itself is very cute and the interior design is lovely, but unfortunately the food does not match the atmosphere at all. Based on the food quality, I wouldn’t recommend this place at all.
