Le Rokujian
An unforgettable taste experience at Le rokujian, with that thought in mind. Using ingredients from the land of Kyoto and ingredients nurtured by the Japanese climate, we carefully finish them into French cuisine. While imagining the smiles of our customers, we continue to pursue cuisine that can only be expressed in this land, unique food that touches the history and culture of the land, and put our thoughts into each plate. Please enjoy the cuisine that makes the most of the charm of Kyoto's seasonal ingredients, unadorned and as they are, together with a "sauce" that "can only be tasted here" in a quiet and comfortable space. Don't miss the plate dessert created by the pastry chef on the spot Le rokujian, a rich and moist time...

If you are in Kyoto, you should definitely make reservations for dinner at Le Rokujian. Chef Manabu is a master of ingredients and techniques, preparing each course like a beautiful work of art. The dishes and service are on par with world renowned restaurants. We ordered the set meal at 18,000 yen per person. About $125. Easily a great value!!! This is a very special restaurant. Don't hesitate to make a reservation!
View on GoogleThe perfect blend of French cooking and local Kyoto flavours. A dinner course restaurant, we went for the medium course set as the menu had more of what we like to eat. Everything was made so well. A perfect balance of flavours and high level of technique was evident as well. Despite it being a multi course menu, the options were well portioned and very easy to eat. Everything flowed and was light enough to continue on to the next course easily. We are not very good eaters but we ate everything with gusto this time. Even my husband who dislikes sweets inhaled the desserts. Also don't be too judgemental by the curry on the menu. Though seeming our of place for french cuisine the flavours will surprise you. Price, I would is considered very decent for the quality of products used. Though not the cheapest dining experiences that tourists go for, I feel it is worth the spend as a treat. Both the chefs which were cooking and serving also speak English quite well. So it's easy to communicate if you are coming to visit from somewhere else Highly recommended to experience this restaurant while in Kyoto. This place deserves to get some Michelin stars and I hope they get some in the future.
View on GoogleThis restaurant operates as a cafe in the morning/afternoon which we had originally stopped at to take a break from biking in the city. We happened to meet the owner and head chef Manabu who was extremely friendly and spoke great English. We were unable to afford the regular set menu but he was happy to accommodate our budget and give us an abbreviated tour of the dishes. The food was excellent across the board and the entire evening was one of the most memorable dining experiences I've had to date. The service was also fantastic, every course was presented by Manabu at the table and we spent the whole evening trading stories as each dish was prepared. I will definitely be coming back in the future.
View on GoogleA wonderful dinner cooked by a very talented French trained chef. We found a table on a cool, rainy April evening completely by chance, as we were trying to shelter from rain. Excellent value for money too. Next time in Kyoto, we will make a detour especially for this place.
View on GoogleFantastic French meal at this restaurant. Delightful staff, delicious food. The grouper wrapped in pastry was particularly outstanding.
