和カフェ 京あんじゅKyo-Anju Japanese Café
Wa Café Kyo Anju | 1 min from Kyoto Station Enjoy the "authentic Japanese" with your five senses. Remember it in one bite. That "comforting" sweetness you felt back then. Right outside the Hachijo Exit of Kyoto Station, in the back of the Kintetsu Meitengai "Miyakomichi", there is a Japanese cafe that is seriously committed to "handmade". Everything from matcha jelly, agar, brown sugar syrup, to mitarashi dango is prepared in-house. We are proud of our sweets made carefully with additive-free, domestic ingredients. Our long-established red bean paste and Japanese-style tiramisu are also popular, and it is a popular spot for sightseeing, families with children, and solo time. It is a relaxing place that values the Kyoto-like atmosphere.

Horrible cafe to enjoy matcha. Everything we ordered was subpar, and the place is clearly understaffed. The glasses for the self-service drinks were dirty, making us question the hygiene. The only positive was the friendly service, but you’d be better off trying the shops next door.
View on GoogleDespite belows negative reviews, we decided to go here anyway. I understand that people say that it is a bit pricey. There are alot of dessert places in Japan and they can be less expensive than this place. Nonetheless the desserts here were delicious. I had a matcha parfait and my partner had a matcha tiramisu set. We both liked it :)
View on GoogleNestled inside Kyoto station, Kyo-Anju provides a good sitting spot for travellers. However, it is overpriced for the quality of the food and drinks that they provide. We tried the strawberry daifuku and coffee.
View on GoogleThe warabi-mochi parfait was fantastic. Beautifully composed with plenty of ice cream and not too much corn-flake filler like some places. The ingredients tasted wonderful.
View on GoogleSuper unhygienic, the staff scratched his nose while preparing the food. Another staff dropped the staff on the floor, picked it up and continued serving without washing her hands. She dropped some seaweed on the table (which is the same table that put the dirty utensils), I saw her putting the seaweed back to the container. They were all talking, not wearing masks while preparing the food. Also, their matcha ice cream taste like table cloth. It's crazy.
