What an absolute gem . This place was recommended by the guest house & I read the reviews. Boy was I impressed, the banana bread so moist, flavorful ( delicate balance of banana and chocolate) . Iced coffee was made to perfection, not acidic at all and mild flavor. I could drink this coffee all day long . The theme is all about frogs . Kaeru means frog in Japanese. Like other reviewers have said ; they roast & inspect the beans for quality right in front of customers. Priceless .
View on GoogleThis is a small coffee shop tucked away from major attractions but easy to reach by bus from most of the central old town of Kyoto. They serve freshly roasted coffee, very aromatic, for around 350 yen, which is a find in this city. Lived the cozy vibe but the space is quite small and gets crowded easily, mostly with foreigners.
View on GoogleThe staff here were very friendly and the atmosphere of the cafe was comfy and inviting, with a subtle frog theme. I had the butter chicken curry and matcha espresso latte, both of which were great. The matcha espresso latte in particular was really unique, with espresso floating on top of matcha in the same glass. I've definitely never seen anything like it before.
View on GoogleSuch a cool hidden gem! Tucked away on a quiet corner, it’s not very popular yet, but it absolutely deserves more attention. At first, I thought it was a pub, but it turned out to be a wonderful spot for great coffee and a delicious cheese toast. They also have several pastry options that pair perfectly with their drinks. The atmosphere is super cozy and unique, different from most cafés I’ve visited, but in a really good way. Highly recommend!
View on GoogleWe had a wonderful afternoon coffee stop here for a coffee float, pizza toast that my daughter loved and delicious banana bread. The lady running it was so welcoming to me and my child and was so kind to give her an etc a sketch to play with and opened the door for us. Excellent service and the drinks and food were perfect too. Would go regularly if I lived here!
