Daikichi Horikawa Takatsuji is one of those places that instantly makes you feel comfortable the moment you walk in. The atmosphere is warm and cozy, perfect for a relaxed meal. We walked in without any reservation and it was pouring rain outside, the chef allowed us to bring the baby stroller inside and welcomed us with great skewers ever. The yakitori here is outstanding—every cut of chicken was cooked perfectly, juicy, and full of flavor. I tried a wide variety of skewers and honestly loved every single one. It is rare to find a place where everything on the menu is consistently this good. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for excellent yakitori in near Nijo Castle in Kyoto.

We had such a great experience at Daikichi Horikawa Takatsuji! We scanned the QR code outside to make a reservation and were able to get a table within 5 minutes — super convenient and easy. Once seated, we pretty much ordered almost everything on the menu, and every single dish was packed with flavor and absolutely delicious. Even though we kept adding to our order throughout the meal, the yakitori still came out surprisingly fast. Sitting at the bar and watching them grill the skewers right in front of us made the whole experience even more fun and interactive. You can really see the care and attention they put into each skewer. And the jasmine tea was so refreshing — the perfect drink to pair with all the savory flavors. Such a fun, flavorful spot. We would definitely come back again! 🍢✨

The best yakitori experience in Japan. Quality meat and variety cooked to perfection. For two people under 6000 yen we were well fed along with fresh draft beer. It does get busy. I got lucky to get two seats. Reservation maybe available via WhatsApp. Menu in English with photos made the ordering experience much easier.

Simply delicious yakitori restaurant. The owner is preparing them right in front of you. There's plenty of choice. Mainly chicken and pork. Some veggies as well, try the mushrooms 😋.

A wonderfully small venue serving perfectly cooked food. A wide choice of options from the usual (pork belly, chicken thigh - yum!) to the less-usual (chicken heart, liver and chicken skin - all delicious). Also, try the addictively delicious cabbage. Simple and worth it - we needed more veg and less carbs on this trip! Very friendly with enough English to make it easy. Quick, very tasty and good value. Very glad we came. It’s small (~10) so reservations are needed. But we walked in before 6pm and got a seat at the bar easily. It was very quiet for us. So arrive early if you haven’t booked.
