An absolute hidden treasure. The specialty black bean coffee is a must try, and no, it’s not coffee, it’s black beans roasted like coffee beans! Caffeine-free and very flavorful. Their café au lait using soy milk is also to die for. The owners are extremely kind and eager to tell you more about the concept of black bean coffee. They let us buy some bags of beans and even had us try a matcha-like spin-off of the drink using powdered beans (ask for the “kona” version!). The cafe itself is beautifully authentic, with a cute and quiet terrace in the back. And it’s reasonably priced too! Definitely add it to your list if you’re in the area to see the Kinkaku-Ji.

What a lovely little find. After wandering through Kinkaku-ji Temple, I spotted this quaint café on the map and decided to drop in… best decision. Tucked just off the main street, it’s welcoming from the outside and even warmer once you step in. The menu is in Japanese, but the owner patiently talks you through everything you need, though honestly, all you really need to ask for is a good coffee… and cake. 🤣😂 I went for the chocolate flourless (I think!) and it was absolutely beautiful. The place was quiet, just one other guest, and that suited me perfectly. A cosy wooden table, soft music drifting in the background, and that unmistakable Japanese knack for creating spaces that soothe the soul. It feels intentionally curated, simple, warm, and done well. A real credit to the owner. And can we talk about the crockery? The cutest little serving plates, and my coffee arrived with the tiniest milk pourer that genuinely made me smile. So glad I stopped by. Highly recommend it for a peaceful moment after the temple -just a couple minutes’ walk away.

Wonderful, charming cafe with delicious desserts and coffee. The owner was so friendly and a delightful woman. Her cafe is just a few steps away from the busy areas which we loved. Great to get away from the crowds visiting the golden temple.

We got to meet the sweetest shop owner today! We ordered the black bean juice (unique & very tasty!), iced latte, and 2 different cakes. Everything was delicious, and the shop owner is such a nice lady!!!

The cutest, most peaceful cafe I've been to in the whole of Japan. A lovely old lady runs the place and is so friendly and kind. The coffee and tea she made was so good and the homemade cakes were absolutely delicious. She told us about the Nishiki Market and gifted us some beautiful flower stickers. Everything just felt like you were back home having a cup of tea with your grandmother. Thank you for making our trip to Japan so much better.
