This place was easily one of our favorite finds during our two weeks in Japan. We stayed in Kyoto for four days and came here every single morning, that says a lot! The lattes were honestly some of the best we had during our entire trip. Not only were they delicious and perfectly balanced, but they were also true latte art masterpieces, with different creative designs each time that made the experience even more special. The staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming, and we appreciated that they open early every morning, making it the perfect start to our day. The pastries and breakfast items were excellent too. The banana chocolate croissant was absolutely delicious, and we also loved the egg toast and the variety of muffins. If you are in Kyoto and looking for amazing coffee, beautiful latte art, tasty pastries, and warm hospitality, Astarte is a place you should not miss. We will definitely remember this spot fondly and hope to come back one day.

I stopped by this coffee shop expecting more given the strong reviews, but the experience ended up being quite average. The cappuccino was decent, but nothing particularly memorable. It wasn’t bad, just not very flavorful or well balanced, especially if you’re used to better specialty coffee. Service was noticeably slow, even though the place wasn’t especially busy at the time. It took quite a while to get a simple order, which made the stop feel less enjoyable than it should have been. The menu also felt somewhat limited, with a fairly medium selection overall. There’s enough to choose from, but nothing that really stands out or makes the place feel unique. Overall, it’s an okay spot if you happen to be nearby, but given how highly it’s rated, it felt a bit overrated. There are likely better coffee options around.

Excellent café with the best muffins and greateast variety I have seen in my life! The egg, ham and cheese toast is also great, but the muffins are the highlight for me. The dough is so soft and fluffy and ingredients are really interesting. We liked it so much that we returned the next day, even having solely 2 breakfasts at Kyoto! My favourites were the yuzu and white chocolate and the chocolate and banana muffins, but the orange and chocolate and orange and coffee ones were also nice. The staff was really friendly and efficient, and the environment is simple, but pleasant. Totally worth a visit! @gigicomidinhas

The place is pretty and modern with some freshly baked specialities. The matcha cheese cake was amazingly good, not too strong and not too sweet, it tasted like a real cheesecake. The egg croissant was very tasty too (ordered it afterwards). The matcha latte was great, also no extra sugar added. So if you are looking for a not too sweet breakfast, this is the place. Thanks!

This became our daily morning spot when stayed in Kyoto. Got a matcha latte every morning and a different baked good every day. The muffins and ham-cheese-egg toast were fantastic!
