The access road (prefectural road) is narrow (enough for 1 car to pass comfortably) and there is only space to pass each other every 250m-500m, and the parking is also difficult, maybe for about 3 cars. It seemed like they were trying to attract visitors by putting up flags for the historical drama, but if they are going to attract visitors, I thought it would be better to improve the road including access first.. (if a lot of people are coming... but there was no one there today lol, but I did pass by factory vehicles.) The waterfall was visible from the observation deck, but when I went, I think the water volume was a bit low~ To go to the bottom of the waterfall, I went down to the river and proceeded, but from the fork in the middle of the road (towards the waterfall), the river water depth was also deep and it looked like I would have to swim, so I judged that my equipment was lacking and gave up. It is close to the place where Hosokawa Tamako (Hosokawa Gracia) lived after being imprisoned after the 'Honnoji Incident'... but it is difficult to get to this place even by car, did they come through a road that didn't exist along the valley in the 1580s-90s? The waterfall is lovely but The road width is narrow and even a compact car can barely pass each other, so you have to go back about 500m to the escape parking to pass each other ><: But you can see the 'waterfall' that 'Mrs. Hosokawa Gracia' might have seen. It can be viewed from above... did they view it from the valley? It's a waterfall that seems like it could be used for waterfall training for monks.

The parking lot is also well-maintained and it takes less than 5 minutes to walk to the observation deck, so it's easy to see... but the journey there is difficult ^^; It's a dilemma, if the number of visitors increases, it will become 'difficult to pass each other'.

It was recently called 'Gracia Great Waterfall', probably because of the NHK historical drama 'Kirin ga Kuru'. The official name should be 'Midono Great Waterfall'. It's good that this observation deck and parking lot have been improved and made convenient, but it seems difficult to improve the narrow road to here. Must be careful, it can't be helped. The waterfall has a lot of water volume and the water looks good on the black rocks which are said to be basalt, it might be one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Tango.

This is an observation deck overlooking from the opposite bank of the valley where the waterfall flows. Trees have been cut down for a good view, but the kumazasa grass that gets sunlight is growing vigorously and is starting to block the view. There is a bench on the observation deck and it is surrounded by a railing, but there is a trail that seems to go down to the waterfall basin. It seems like a quite steep road, so although it was easy to go down, I thought it would be difficult to go up, so I didn't do it. Also, there is a Kannon Jizo enshrined next to the observation deck, and it was written that when an epidemic hit this area in the past, this place was used as a 'cremation site'. I pray for the peace of their souls.
