After wandering around Kyotango, we were glad to find Kikunoya open for dinner. There's no English menu available but the owner was very sweet, asked for our preferences and served a tempura and sashimi set. The plain rice here was really good! While the tempura was a little too oily, the sashimi is nice and fresh. A nice place for dinner overall.

I have lived in Kyotango for one year. During that time I went to Kikunoya Restaurant many times. I love that they change their menu according to the season. If you have a knowledge of dashi you will realize that this shop is actually making real dashi - the flavor is very different. Especially when trying Nabeyaki udon you will feel the difference. Sashimi is extremely special. At Kikunoya a lot of different fish are used. Also small fish which are a pain to prepare, are used. I ate aji, tobi-uo, hatahata, shibi and even nodoguro in the regular sashimi menu. I would definitely recommend trying the sashimi tempura teishoku - I miss it so much. Btw. service was at all times superb I felt so confitable at kikunoya thank you so much!

Delicious handmade food. Awesome display. A restaurant which is full of love. Highly recommended.

The place was nice and cozy. The owner was very nice and we enjoyed his company with us. It was a shock to them that 5 gaijin walked in late but they welcomed us. Thanks for the food and the company!
